We just had an earthquake in Toronto.

It was enough to shake the house here in the east end for a few seconds. It wasn't as severe as the one that ocurred last summer in Quebec. Did anyone else feel it?

a 5 that's big up there, on the east coast should be felt for hundreds of miles.

No rumbling down south in chi town. We get a few small earthquakes every now and then too. Im always interested in earthquakes in the great lakes area. While to my knowledge there aren't active faults here, the ground is still rebounding from the last ice age. I've always assumed that was the source of our quakes.

How big do you think this one was?

Wow, a 5 is really big for the region! Thanks for the info.

California had a medium sized one earlier ....
Guess the massive sun spot activity today is
really kicking things off?

Does anyone have any info on the plates in this region?
A mag 5 is unheard of in this area.

Felt in Ottawa, ON. Shook our office just a bit. Nobody panicked though (damn it!)
According to USGS the quake was in Quebec just north of Shawville and was in the Eastern Quebec Siezmic Zone.quake

It looks like it was in the Outaouais region, where there was a fairly large earthquake last year, if I remember correctly.
