Cruz also slammed the president for failing to prosecute felons and fugitives who illegally tried to purchase guns, saying in 2010 of 48,000 illegal gun purchase attempts, the administration only prosecuted 44. Instead, Cruz said, Obama is going after the "constitutional rights of the people who are complying with the law."

"When a deranged criminal murders innocent children, they blame us," said Cox, adding that the NRA works to promote gun safety and restricting access to guns to the mentally ill and criminals.

"We've made our country safer and more free by protecting the fundamental right of law-abiding Americans to defend their homes and their families, but they still blame us," he said. "That's because when we see tragedy, Barack Obama and Michael Bloomberg, they see opportunity. While we pray for God to comfort those who are suffering unimaginable pain, they rush to microphones and cameras and gather in war rooms on Capitol Hill and scheme about how to use that suffering to push their political agenda."

The present elected officials might have kicked a wasp nest they wish would go away before this is over.

The NRA is a lunatic, terrorist organization.

Wait- I thought no criminal could ever be stopped from buying guns, so we shouldn't even try??

ATF officials didn't intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called "Demand Letter 3". That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or "long guns." Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information.

People who can not understand or think there is a much larger agenda going on (even when the perps are caught red handed) need to step back from what we are usually feed by MSN and at least think about cause and effect. The who what where of the matter.

It may have stopped them from purchasing a firearm from a store, but they, as always being a criminal, will get one regardless.
And, of that number, what were the reasons why they were stopped? Was it from the redicoulus notion of "mental health", or was it felons that had their constitutional right unlawfully taken away, after they served their debt to society?

But, at least you can see the silver lining to a crap filled cloud like prosecuting only a handful of those.

Yeah, way to go 0bama admin. You sure did a great job.

And what about the weather underground? You know, the Tyrant 0bama's buddy Bill Ayers' old group??

You Progressives are very quaint, with your selective outrage.

Erm, that was a long time ago and Bill Ayers was brought up years ago in the '08 primaries. It's a non-issue. Ayers isn't a 'buddy' of Obama. He never was. And what's with the 'tyrant' tag?

Bill Ayers is now a college professor who is filling the minds and hearts of our young people with his socialist bomb planting ideas for a better society.

During the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign, a controversy arose regarding Barack Obama's contact with Bill Ayers, a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a former leader of the Weather Underground, a radical left organization in the 1970s.[1] Investigations by CNN, The New York Times and other news organizations concluded that Obama did not have a close relationship with Ayers.[2][3][4] Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, hosted a gathering at their home in 1995,[5] where Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her chosen successor in the Illinois State Senate.[3][6] Obama and Ayers' nine years of service on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago overlapped three years 1999–2002

Later that year, the group took responsibility for bombing several police cars in Chicago in retaliation for the killing of Mark Clark and Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party by the police. By early 1970, many members of the group were in hiding, including Ayers. The organization was rocked by tragedy in March of that year when three members—Theodore Gold, Terry Robbins, and Ayers’ girlfriend Diana Oughton—were killed while making bombs in New York City.
Poor babies must have gotten their wires crossed?

If any of us reading this would have been involved in what Professor Ayers was, we would still be rotting in some Club Fed.

Ayers has at least expressed remorse for his actions. And he's still not a 'buddy' of Obama.

Ok Mr. one liner, put your money where your mouth is. How is the NRA a despicable? Clearly if you have this opinion you can back this up with facts and not just be repeating what the liberal media is telling you right?

Heck, how about you start by refuting and showing how the quotes said in the OP are "cringe" worthy?

Sure he said he was sorry he was caught....If I bomb and or kill someone can I say I am sorry and get a professorship!
Wow I never thought that would work...
If I ever do something along those lines I will try the "Oh, I am sorry" bit...sure that will make the victims of my crime feel better; turn the other cheek and all that....

Lol I read your post and couldn't help being reminded of this.

Seriously, how can you just apologize for something and just get off scott free? Seems like some greasing of the palms is behind the scenes in this regard.

My friend I am the OP...Discussing the big picture and the possible tie up of lose ends is pretty much what we do around here. As far as the article you posted on the new leadership of the NRA maybe they needed someone with a little sterner belief in the Constitution.

The NRA actually lost membership or did not grow according to their own projections until Obama became president because many of the members thought the NRA had sold them down the river during the last AWB.

The current membership has increased....

An anonymous insider at the NRA told Fox News that based on his access to internal memos prepared by the association's membership division, since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the NRA has registered an average of 8,000 new members a day. The source also revealed that both the number of individual contributions to the NRA and their average amount have increased significantly since the school massacre on Dec. 14.
which is posted all over the internet.

And heck yes anyone who bucks the establishment is a raciest nut job or conspiracy theorist!

Please provide evidence of terrorist activities. With 5 million members this should be a fairly easy task considering how terrorists operate.

I'll be waiting.

ETA:

Its a crime to attempt to purchase guns if you know you are legally barred from doing so. The problem is that these people are often not prosecuted. The system in place works insofar as the law that created it is enforced.

Explanation: St*rred!

ETA:

I concur!

However is it illegal to MAKE ones own guns if one is legally barred from purchasing them OR is it a blanket across the board limitation on even possesing them?

Personal Disclosure: I am under the impression that making ones own guns for personal use is completely allowed. Please deny any ignorance I may be infected with.

SO what?
Ayers is a criminal, plain and simple. Not only a criminal, but self confessed as well. He is a scumbag that should be in prison.

Oh joy, a link to Breitbart. What a surprise. And that's suppose to convince me of what exactly again?
I hear a lot of noise and I see a lot of waving of hands, but I still don't see any verifiable proof. Let's face it people have been making crap up about Obama since he was elected. That's the problem - he was elected. And then he was re-elected. I suggest that certain people learn to deal with that rather large fact.
