Over 1,700 students in Waterloo Region have received suspension notices in which they were warned to update their immunization records or face suspension from school next week. The notices, from Waterloo Region Public Health, were given to students Wednesday. "They have until May 7 to call us and update their records or get immunizations before suspension day," said Linda Black, the manager of the region's Vaccine Preventable Disease Program.

And people say there is no such thing as forced immunizations. Get the juice or no school for you is the message here. It doesn't matter that many parents are refusing these vaccinations and who can blame them?

So if a parent decides not to cave into the pressure of this act will they be charged with not putting their kid in school? And if they decide to home school instead, when is the knock at the door coming with someone standing there, papers in hand and saying that it doesn't matter if the kid is in school or not?

Not liking this one bit.

Peace

This is such blatant forced medication. Bullying is such a subversive way to get what you want and all these little steps just lower the bar for civil liberty ever increasingly.

Agreed.

The only other choice at the moment is home schooling and many families can't afford to have only one parent working so how is it possible? And then of course it's illegal to not have your kid in school. So what is the choice here?

Submit or get arrested...maybe have your child taken into Govt. protection from the big bad parents? Not much of a choice is there?

Peace

I don't know if they have the option but I signed a paper at my kid's high school so that he could forego the latest whooping cough vaccination. You can still do that here in California. But the school did call me about it and that's when I told them we were opting out and they told me I had to come into the health office and sign the form.

I totally agree with this. Yes theyre your children, but what about others that may be at serious risk from dangerous viruses such as measles and mumps?

There's been a measles epidemic in the uk because of parents not immunising their children and people have died.

Look at the bigger picture.

All these parents have to do is claim their children are Jehovah's Witnesses' members and they would be exempt from vaccinations.

Twenty-eight states, including Florida, Massachusetts and New York, allow parents to opt out for medical or religious reasons only. Twenty other states, among them California, Pennsylvania, Texas and Ohio, also allow parents to cite personal or philosophical reasons. Mississippi and West Virginia allow exemptions for medical reasons only.

Parents fake religion to avoid vaccines

The others that are in danger from getting the measles need only get their shot. That is their choice, not getting it is the choice of others.

Everyone should get to make their own choice and suffer their own consequences.

(My children have been vaccinated, that was my choice.)

I agree. Its everyone's "personal" choice. I didn't get my kids vaccinated for many things I deemed harmful. My children NEVER get the flu shot, and NEVER get the flu. It seems like most people that did, got the flu regardless. At least those around me did.

I stopped immunizing my children and they don't like school as it is, so homeschooling would be their option and home business, so hopefully parents don't cave in to anything like this.

The article gives very little info. Is this grades K to 12?

Years ago when I was school age, they just did the vaccines at school. The school nurse did them.

When my son was in elementary school, and we moved, I had to show his vaccination records. I don't remember ever having vaccinations in high school, unless there was a school nurse that did some. He never mentioned any.

In Canada, once kids are 15, they can legally drop out of school, so after that age parents won't be in trouble if their kids aren't in school.

Call their bluff.

Find a non propaganda source of the subjects they are teaching and homeschool.
The school will crack pretty fast if they lose the revinue.

We train people how to treat us and right now the we taxpayers are acting like dogs that have been whipped so much we just cower and take it.

Who pays to support whom?
Act on it.

Schools make money from school attendance... One possible option for the 1700 kid's parents, would be to get together and just say change your policy and make it OUR choice or MY CHILD will be home schooled; if not transferred to live with granny out of state.

The parents would still probably be fined $500 each and CPS along with the full force of the district would be used to intimidate and coerce them into getting the shots. Sounds like a time to lawyer up if they feel strongly; which I doubt they do.

Many have lost faith in shots, government, and any type of designated authority. What a sad state of affairs that may be setting us up for a major pandemic in the future. Having said that though it is farma and the governments own fault in many cases for the mistrust.

Wrabbit has a special needs child he mentioned in another thread and I have a grand baby who was a beautiful alert child until she got her Rubella shot. Today she is 14 with the emotions of a 5 year old; more like a savant than a normal 14 year old. Her mother, my daughter, says the shots did it and refused the shots for her son who is 2 years younger and healthy.. With so many young ones having mental and physical health problems today it is no wonder people are leery of trusting their children's' health to anyone but themselves..

This is just a beginning. I bet pretty soon the government will threaten you with incarceration if you don't get vaccinated, as you may be a "dangerous person to society".

This is just disgusting. Where are the kids supposed to learn if they get suspended? They might miss important things.

And what happened to "no child left behind"?

We don't live in a free country anymore; we live in a modern day Nazi Germany.

Well, those others can get the vaccine if they want.

I've never understood why non-vaccinated people are a threat to vaccinated people.

You always have a choice. Always. It's simply a matter of priorities.

Do you think being inconvenienced should take priority over injecting mercury and uncounted other poisons into the body of your child? If it's a case of lost income, perhaps a half dozen or dozen families could home school together and the workers contribute to the "teacher's" income.

You always have a choice.

Vaccines cause measles. So what benefit is there complying with the PREVALENT CAUSE of measles?

Looks to me like you have to have your shots there or else. I am personally fed up with parents who won't immunize their kids. There are huge outbreaks of whooping cough thanks to THOSE parents. MANY kids who had the shots got it also because it is to prevent it from occurring however IF an outbreak happens those who had the shot can still get it thanks to those parents. The need of the many outweigh the needs of the few PERIOD. BTW if you think shots cause autism I have a story for you.......... I got custody of my daughter when she was 18 months. Her mother lied to the lawyers about her shots and what doctor's office she had been to. She claimed it was her birth doctor when in fact I found out 6 months later it was another office entirely in the same building.........I am sure she thought that was amusing. I proceeded to get my daughter shots as she needed to get into daycare so I could go to work. So in reality it turns out she had an ENTIRE extra round of shots......and NO side effects.

BTW feel free to read this........
