How does everyone miss the opening line of the op's statement: "I've lived up here my whole life and I've never seen anything like this." No one notices a change in the earth? No one feels like something is out of whack? i feel like there's something going on with Earth that tptb aren't telling us. jus' sayin.

Or what seems more likely to me is that the earth is very cyclical and just because we have not seen many different cycles in our lifetime doesn't make it abnormal. Maybe the average cycle of major changes is longer than the average human life span. I have not seen weather like what happened 100+ years ago in my part of colorado, but that doesn't mean something is terribly wrong.
