Bombs aren't a good thing, obviously, but it probably stands to reason that using them side by side with guns in the weapon demonization process will reinforce an anti-gun mindset.
That being said... poor girl. Another victim in the war against not walking the straight and narrow. It's expulsion for the kids now. Next it's going to be death (or indefinite incarceration) for the adults.

My how things have changed, and in about thirty years.
Our high school's version of gun control was that you had to lock your truck if you had a firearm, or store it in the school's rifle locker.
I built a still for my science fair project. And made whiskey in it for the demo - albeit not a lot. I also made RDX in what passed for a chem lab, and all I got for a warning was 'don't make much, and use the fume hood'.
These days I'd be in the pen.
1. To place under government or group ownership or control.
2. To make fit for companionship with others; make sociable.
3. To convert or adapt to the needs of society.

It wasn't a science project.
www.theledger.com...
The girl told authorities she was conducting a science experiment, according to Bartow police, but science teachers at the school said they knew nothing about it.
She did this on her own with a lot of other kids around.
Why couldn't she be experimenting with a science project on her own?
Kids do science type experiments all the time without teachers.
It's part of being curious about how things work

I'm assuming she used more dangerous chemicals than just baking soda and vinegar.
if you've ever taken even basic chemistry courses in college, you would know chemicals aren't something ANYONE should be messing around with, let alone a 16 year old. She could have just as easily blown off one of her own arms, eyes, or another kids limbs.
She just wanted to see what happened to those chemicals in the bottle,
I'm sorry but you do NOT do that with chemicals. That is extremely dangerous.
I would guess she won't be convicted of a felony here. Being charged is not the same as being convicted.
ATS is really showing their ignorance on this thread. Mixing chemicals should not be taken lightly. It should only be done in a laboratory, and, for kids, under strict supervision.
