I'd imagine the investigators aren't just relying on the suspects answers, but are also checking all his electronic communications and such.

Apparently, the kid had confessed, then they went in with Miranda rights and lawyers and he stopped talking. Good job DOJ!


Oh yah and they had planned other attacks. I guess the manhunt got in the way.
