Georgia Gunman Holding Firefighters Hostage

Five firefighters are being held at gunpoint in a house in the Georgia town of Suwanee, local media report.

The gunman, who has barricaded the house, now faces a SWAT team trying to free the Gwinnett County firefighters.

Authorities told local media that the fire department was at the residence in response to a medical call.

This is just breaking and there's not enough ON the source to really quote it and I'm not even sure they have their facts straight on RToday.

WSB which is local says it was a medical call, and then there were 5 firefighters EMS taken hostage. According to them, it is in Gwinett neighborhood.

I hope they get out of there ok, this happened a while back didn't it? Firefighters were called to the scene but were shot.

Hopefully this will go more peacefully.

Failing that, as firefighters are not your average members of society, i hope they get a chance to rush him and kick his ass into the next decade.

Saying the man faked a heart attack to get them out there.

Firefighters should be armed with small/small caliber guns. Like a Short P22or similar.

This wouldn't happen if these people were armed. What we need is more responsible firearm education in this country. We need more responsible gun owners that simply refuse to put up with thugs and criminals.

They are saying his home was foreclosed on by Wells Fargo.

There are 4 now - he let one go.

I agree with you full heartily. America has a problem with criminals. It feels like the victims cannot do anything to either defend themselves or get justice for themselves. However, suspects who commits crimes become celebrities and get a lot of support. It's wrong!

Not sure how much you'll get from it, sonds quiet at the moment....

Maybe someone who knows more about guns that me can chip in, but i wouldn't want to be carrying ammunition whilst dealing with fires on a day to day basis.

"POP" would be the appropriate word methinks.
