After the scene with the dragons earlier this year it seems extremely plausible.

My guess is that the mad king had his kingly rights with Tywin's wife...resulting in Tyrion.

Same here, since the first re-read. The introductiory description GRRM gives us of Tyrion, in AGOT, sounds so similar to the descriptions of other Targaryens. Coupled with all the other subtle hints throughout the series, he has got to be!

So Chubs hasn't even finished the 6th book and there are now confirmed rumors that HBO is talking to him about a prequel series:

HBO has never made a prequel or spinoff series from one of its scripted hits. But Game of Thrones could change that.
The network's programming president Casey Bloys confirms HBO is still talking to author George R.R. Martin about ideas for a follow-up to the international Emmy-winning hit series, which is seen by more than 20 million viewers. Finish the damn book already, George!
