Our UK member must surely contribute quite a bit to the forum as a whole. But I wonder how many threads that I would have been interested in have perhaps fallen by the wayside and then off the radar.

I understand that the reason for this is perhaps that the site owners want to keep the site as 'international' as possible without bands of cliques developing, but I'm finding that I'm more inclined to UK issues in general and more likely to start/contribute ( if that's what you could call it) to threads with a UK twist.

No-one could deny that the site is very US centric and I enjoy reading a lot of the issues that affect the US, it's even opened my eyes to the world of the ordinary Joe of the USA, but on the other hand, I find a lot of the threads quite banal with no interest at all to me.

Anyway, that's about it. Thanks for reading.

All our British humour and banter thrown into one big pile? I'm up for that, I'm steered more towards UK issues on here as well.

God help any outsiders that wander into that forum without warning.

As much as I get news from the States on this site, a UK forum would allow me to get caught up on news there as well.

There's always the existing "Regional Politics" forum, which is for non-U.S. issues.

I get the impression that sub-forums on this site tend to be created only when the large number of threads on a particular issue brings up the need to find a place to put them, the "Gulf Oil" incident being such a case.
So I don't think there's much chance of a U.K. forum until the number of U.K threads begins to over-balance one of the other forums.

i'm with Disrael(i?) in this one, alternatively the "US" could be removed from US polical madness?

Totally agree fella, actually started my own thread about this 1 minute after you posted yours (www.abovetopsecret.com...) Mod's please delete mine, it was a total coincidence! lol
A place for us Brits to bitch and whinge would be brilliant, without the 'they stole your guns' 'you bow and scrape to a monarch' 'your healthcare for all is socialist blah' comments in totatally unrelated threads.

Personally I'd like to see it but I doubt it'll happen.

1.) Would it have the 'traffic' to really justify a forum all of it's own?
2.) Would it deter non-UK members from participating?
3.) Would it isolate UK members from everyone else?

I'm not sure of the answers to any of them but they all need considering.

I'm not a prolific threadstarter but I'd possibly start more threads in a UK forum but I don't like the thought that non-UK members could be reluctant to contribute.
I know I steer a wide berth of the US specific forums unless something catches my eye or there's something specific I'm interested in.

Or the irrelevant and inaccurate 'we saved your asses' comments.

Valid point.

Do we keep out of US threads and forums?

I doubt they would either?

That's a bit spooky, but the more the merrier.

Unfortunately I have to cut it at that...I'm not talking to the Welsh at the moment

I'm not surprised after our fantastic display of football last night and my antagonistic comments in the Scotland independence thread!!

I would hate to see it become 'isolationalist' ( if such a word even exists).

More of a repository for our own issues, everybody would still be welcome to post.

And where would this website be if it didn't have its Daily Mail fix?

Haha, true, the US members would have little options to quote without the Dailly Fail

I don't think it a good Idea right now, the currently running
Scottish Independence threads have left a bad taste!

I think it's a good idea, we all tend to come together when it's a discussion from outside our islands, much like a dysfunctional family

Another point is that in the last year we've had the Hillsbourgh inquiry, the phone hacking scandal and Jimmy Savile.

These are REAL scaldals/conspiracies laid down to the website on a plate, there is no need for the tin-foil hats where the Brits are concerned.
