He's a Jesuit?

Has that ever happened before?

I was watching Fox when he was announced and the person that Sheppard Smith was interviewing kept saying his name and suggesting what he might be called and saying and also he is Peter. He said that a few times.

no it hasn't and that's why its so shocking. Jesuits are probably the most evil bunch of religious nut bags on the planet and have been for a very long time.

Or maybe the drama will only just begin.

Maybe Pope Francis will shoot fire from his eyes and lightening from his arms and fly from the balcony?

In the future, someone will give him a fatal head wound that he'll recover from. He'll be transformed from then on, proclaiming himself to be Peter incarnate, and his supernatural satanic powers will emerge!

The pitiful thing is that, if God actually exists, these tens of thousands of people going all hysterical over this man (for that is what he is) and the other millions idolizing the papacy are all behaving in a very un-Christian and ungodly manner.

Now, I'm not Christian - but I sure as heck know that Catholicism is actually very ungodly and un-Jesus like - the papacy is a direct affront to the Christian God; if He exists.

You do not worship a man. You do not have excess showiness - as the Church has.

Jesus would liken the Church as Pharisees and Sadducees.

If Jesus were to be present, he would overturn tables. He would rip their luxurious clothes from their bodies. He would dash their gold cups and ornaments upon the ground.

I thought Catholicism held that particular honor.

And live in ROME with the ROMANS.....

Hey! This is mental exercise. Let us have our fun.

If I may make a prediction - this will be the Pope that will bring the RCC to clash with the political elites of the world - possibly the U.N.

Watch for this word to come up more prominently in the coming days: Curia.

You misunderstand my standpoint.
I do NOT accept the "Malachy prophecy", and I would APPROVE if the Catholics were trying to make it wrong

Well he looks like a very nice person, and has a nice smile. I like him already. I'm not Catholic, but that don't matter. "A Pope of the people", I have heard that before in regards to 'The Roman,' though.

To keep with the prophecy of St malachai he IS the son of Italian immigrants to Argentina. Perhaps they were from Rome.

I thought it was funny that he didn't know the hail Mary in Italian, or at least needed the weird Guy behind to say it for him while he omitted certain parts.

The look on the faces of the people around him when he mentioned Benedict was odd. One really happy arch Bishop made a little triangle with his hands as he practically broke out in laughter.

Strange days.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, 76, of Argentina has been elected as Pope. He is the first Pope from Latin America in the history of the Catholic Church.

His name was announced by French Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran from a balcony over the main doors of St. Peter’s Basilica as thousands of onlookers cheered from the square below.

As the white smoke rose above the Sistine Chapel, the bells of St. Peter Basilica tolled out 'Habemus papem", meaning the Catholic Church now has a new Pope.

The cardinals held a full day of deliberations on Wednesday after black smoke appeared following the morning session, signalling that no decision had been made.

White smoke was released up the chimney after five rounds of voting meaning that a two-thirds majority had been reached and that one candidate received at least 77 votes.

Crowds outside St. Peter's Basilica in Rome cheered and waved flags from many different nations. Some waved crucifixes while others held banners reading 'long live the Pope'.

I don't know about you guys but I find this pretty scarry. The guy came from nowhere wasn't even named in the top favorites and remember the prophecy of popes.

The last pope the pope of the people. Look francis up its title given for the people in despair and poor.

That worked well for Obama, in two elections.

Charm and vanity lead to priceless sin.

Hopefully he will really be a world leader in social justice for the poor.

That's all I really have to say. I don't expect him to do much for women in general otherwise, but that's a big first step.

I was actually being facetious. In an argument about how Obama is supposedly the Antichrist, a user in favor of it presented that very same scenario.
Except in her prophecy, Satan possesses Obama after he recovers.
*rolls eyes*

Ok so the catholics have a new pope. So is this man going to clean up the seedy underground paedophile rings? Is he going to stop the mass cover ups what have gone on for years?. Or is he going to plod along like everyone else seems to over there?. Its ok them praying on balconies anyone can do that. But will he really help to change the world for the better?
