You should of went to highpointfirearms.com and ordered a handgun. There not the best guns but there perfect for home defense. They will ship it to the gun store and you pick it up after a background check.

If you plan on keeping it locked up and unloaded, then don't plan on using it for 'home protection'.

In the middle of the night you aren't going to be Johnny-on-the-spot, like when your fully awake.

Seriously think about it and be safe.

You can keep it Unloaded w/ a fully loaded clip next to it in a safe and still have home protection. You can even leave the turn dial 1 digit off from unlocking the safe, tough luck on a electronic safe but still home protection is still there.

You are looking at the very beginnings of very atavistic times to come. Time to ask yourself if you've been preparing properly.

People in other countries have been dealing with this problem for a long time. They are way ahead of the Bell Curve on self sufficiency.

These days you are better off ordering over the net or going to gun shows. The prices are crazy, but you can still get guns...any kind of hand gun, but AR are far and few inbetween. Ammo prices are crazy too.

Instead of waiting for a supplier, try downloading some gunsmith e-books
and learn to MAKE your own guns and ammo. Even hollow-points can be
made at home out of fairly reasonably-priced metal-casting gear. Depending
upon your city, state, provincial or national statutes, certain type of guns and
ammo are allowed to be made at home. '22's or .223's shouldn't be a problem
in most states. Go for simplicity and older age...try a late 1930's and 1940's
rifle design but have it fire the 22's or .223's. A cheaper lathe machine and
ammo metal casting system can be had for less than $3000.00 to $4000.00

You can be up and running with some experimentation in about 6 to 8 months
at 1.5 to 2 hours per day 4 days a week of your spare time. It's just a thought
that you might want to consider AND if and when the SHTF comes, being able
to have THAT gunsmith and ammo casting machinery and skillset is well worth
its weight in gold!

One thing I've been experimenting on a very preliminary basis,
is designing REPLICA custom 1700's to 1800's era muskets
and flintlocks on a 3D-CAD system and making them out of
aluminum (casting and machining). Since most aluminum
won't take the firing pressures, these are going to be for
display, but they will look real enough on the wall.

One project I've had ongoing for YEARS (5+) is designing a
SEMI-PORTABLE coil-based rail-gun using home-made ultra-fast
charging ULTRA-CAPACITORS to fire stainless steel rods
that have a magnetic ferrous core using linear induction
as the firing system.

The thing with 3D-CAD/CAM design and machining that
i've found, is that my DESIGNED performance levels don't
seem to match the real-world results.

On a 20 metre rail-gun, I can get over 3000KPH (1800 MPH)
for the projectile in the real-world, but the CAD/CAM design
calculations SAY it should be doing 20,000+ KPH (12,000 MPH)
even with the aerodynamic friction taking place and other factors.

Rod shape, spacing of coils, coil EM pulse flow/ebb are
all factors that still need to be worked on in terms of computer
modelling and rendering of rail-gun projectile and EM coil dynamics
which unfortunately takes TIME, of which I am already so short of!

My next experiment is to go with much heavier gauge EM coils
and use pulses of Really High Voltage DC that deliver 750+ joules
of kinetic energy to the round. Using more EM coil pulse-stages,
and greater CURRENT and VOLTAGE I should be able
to get 2000 to 3000 joules of Kinetic Energy to the round
but that's a whole 'nuther ball-o-wax of brainstorming
time and energy so it actually DOES FIRE a round
at 20,000KPH (12,000 MPH or Mach 18!) or more!

I did notice that my hollow point rounds were made in Serbia, which seemed a bit odd to me. Not sure if this is normal or not since I am no expert on munitions.

Im guessing the ammo is Prvi Partizan. I hear positive reviews on that ammo. Most of my ammo that I use is stuff from Russia and Eastern Europe. Silver Bear, Herters, Monarch, ect.... Plus I order ammo in spam cans that were made in Bulgaria. There was alot of different choices for ammo out there, so finding some made halfway around the world is pretty normal.

Now if the shelves could be stocked again as they were a few months ago.....

Yeah, a few seconds. But not when you are woken from sleep by a noise etc. It will take you those seconds at least just to realize what needs to be done. Do yourself a favor, and at least keep the mag in the gun while in the safe. I do. It is legal, where I am, but you should check to be sure.That way you only need to rack the slide and you are in business. I keep two handguns in a safe ( fast access) one is chambered and ready (decocked) the other is loaded with an empty chamber. Whatever you decide to do, do it the same always, and make sure to be aware of the conditions of your guns at all times. And if you are considering home defense, get the sight lines in your home, and absolutely know what is behind them. A .40 cal will blow right through most building materials i.e. walls and doors, even exterior ones in some cases. Be aware of others in your home, kids etc. and where they are. I recommend loading with frangible rounds as they will penetrate less in all materials. Welcome to the true American club...

I picked it up for $370...not the best price I saw but certainly not the worst either considering I was able to see it and hold it. I'm sure I could have found it cheaper but I want to support local business and want to see this little shop do well.

Thanks for the info, I've been shopping around for a nice, cheap .45 pistol and might give them a try. Even if it's a POS it only costs $200 and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Question I have is, how do I order from them?
