The so called clan,is the family and supporters (MILF) of a Sultan who has laid claim to that portion of Sabah. There was an agreement with them and the Malay government for payment of use of the land. But something happened so the sultan decided to launch and offensive to take back his land from malaysia.

The whole event led to the revelation that the MILF knew the area well because they were trained there when they fought against the Philippine govt. malaysia denied in the past that Sabah was used as a training area for the MILF and now the truth comes out that the malay govt lied to the Philippine govt.

so it is not so much an invasion as it is a repossession.

too bad this is happening like this with the media spin..
It's getting real pathetic how they want to connect any "terrorist" act to that Al kaida database..
Sad how we've been conditioned to expect al kaida mentioned every time you hear of terror abroad in the news..

Is this really part of Al Qaeda?

This made me laugh. Whenever I see Al Qaeda I automatically see

Very interesting. From your link...

This may be why the Western media refuses to properly cover an otherwise very noteworthy conflict. The fact that these militants are emanating from long-time US ally, the Philippines, and the Philippines’ current role in assisting the US “pivot” towards Asia, and more specifically facilitating a proxy confrontation with China, illustrates the greater regional implications at play. The US intends to install client regimes in Myanmar led by Aung San Suu Kyi, Thailand led by Thaksin Shinawatra’s despotic political dynasty, and in Malaysia led by Anwar Ibrahim. Together, this front will then be turned against Chinese interests as part of a long-planned desire to encircle and contain China.

Some people in this thread have been funning on this. Dismiss, discredit and distract...

Lets see how many of them are still paying attention. They would be if their intent is to hide this information (just like the Mainstream) from average Americans.

Invasion? ha, it is exactly as you described it. A few terrorists landing on a beach. The media are not hiding anything, it's you whose imagination has flown the coop.

It's not news! Justin Bieber getting sick at his concert was headline news for the day. You should know by now, celebrity news beats out all news 10-1.

If it's reported, you won't hear about it for another 2 days. Most media is behind ATS breaking news by about 2 days.

Of course MSM has been talking about it. Why distract from the sequester, N. Korea, and Iran. News is what they say is news. Which of course is more fear mongering. More fear mongering more of a nanny state the push on us.

Wouldn't a random invasion be a good reason to keep your guns?

Darn this word terrorist. Whoever coined that term is a genius because it's fooling everybody. They're not considered terrorists in the Philippines but rather secessionist rebels or a rather large armed group fighting for the Islamic part of the Philippines more specifically Mindanao. Been like that since the 60's.

The people you're calling terrorist could more likely be accurately called MUSLIMS. That's what they are and they don't consider themselves as you call them.

To deny ignorance, click here : WIKI MILF

The MILFs you're talking about (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) was MILF way before it became jargon from the pron industry.

AS FOR THE ISLAND OF SABAH:

Click this link to deny more ignorance: SABAH

or type SABAH in Google Maps and zoom in.

Notice how Malaysia and the Philippines seem to be like one archipelago. Without naming borders or nations, one can easily just clump all the islands down there as a region perhaps named Australia.

Point is, SABAH is very close to the tips of the Philippines and so the locals may view themselves as one and the same. Sabah has a majority population of Muslims and so much so in Mindanao. The Tausug tribe that raided Sabah was lead by a person who thought he was the rightful owner of Sabah, being the direct descendant of the Sultanate (or tribe chief king) of Sabah some 140 years ago. The tribal warriors were apprehended despite their infamous fierce melee and ambush, kamikaze assault (I don't know if the rumor about the 45calibre being invented for these crazy berzerkers of the Southern Philippines is true, cause AP bullets just pass through them and they still keep on going and chop limbs off with their bolos. The stopping power of 45's at least throws them to the ground before reaching their target. Talk about ZOMBIES, now we know what we are.)

And so, armed with righteous purpose, the prince, while clutching a large canvass depicting his family tree, dutifully ignores the current state regime governing the Island of Sabah and tries to reclaim his birthright. Of course, the tribal warriors were tragically brought down. And MILF, being a concerned Muslim big brother of the Tausug, felt sympathy for their fallen brethren and tries to negotiate a ceasefire. The Philippines, being an independent republic nation, acts responsibly and tries to pacify the situation and enters the scene with it's smaller brethren, the MILF and Tausug.

Sadly, the Philippines and MILF will be dragged along with its tribal member known as the Tausug, AS TERRORIST JUST BECAUSE it's easier to say that word rather than figuring out how these entities are separate and yet the same.

The Philippines is a Roman Catholic country with the majority of it's Muslim population in the south, near Malaysia, which is a Muslim Country.

That's the Sultanate of Sulu, to be more accurate.

Bah! I'll just start another thread. people won't read past 3 pages anyway. That'll just clarify more of the indigenous violence happening in Sulu/Sabah area.

OMG! I'm so lazy (or busy making money) I won't make another thread about this. Maybe I will but maybe not but just in case I'll leave everyone with links:

For the Sultans of Sulu trying to claim Sabah as their own, CLICK HERE!.

For an argument on who rightfully owns Sabah, Sulu, and anything in that region, CLICK HERE!
No doubt that will educate the ignorance out of most folks BUT NOT ME cause I find it TLDR and I'm mostly relying on stock knowledge right now so...

I'm shocked to here that an invasion has taken place and there is little or no coverage in the main stream media.

I don't know about the media source But I encourage people to read the article.

Is this really a terrorist attack?

Is this really part of Al Qaeda?

Why is it not being reported.

www.blacklist ednews.com
(visit the link for the full news article)

It is because nothing is being reported anymore. Real news agencies do not exist anymore. Reporters are send out only to propagate the events that were planned and serve current political direction. Reporters nowadays are being directed onto these events stories [e.g Libya].

A fluke event/big story like this that gets ignored exposes that fact.

Like someone else already mentioned, they still report beyonces nose cold, that bieber broke a nail and talk about kanye's skirt. Must be real news that, to people like you that is.

A 100 armed and trained men invading a region means a bit more then you purport it to be. Otherwise YOU may as well discount the alleged attack of a mere 20 men in new york on 9/11.

It's a clan "asserting" it's property "rights" dating back to 1878 or something like that. There's been a couple threads on it. Sabah has been a bone of contention between Malaysia and the PI for a while.

The media is hardly hiding it.

I do agree PI cops are among the best money can buy. They also have no problem beating someone down if they feel like it.

Malaysian Police are now taking it out on the civilians who they think are supporting the "intruders" and i'm afraid this may just worsen the situation and they are blocking the int'l media from going there.

Filipinos flee police brutality in Sabah - ‘We’re treated like animals’

....

Extreme fear

Taradji had lived in Sandakan since she was 6 years old and she was a holder of MyKad, the identification card issued to Malaysian citizens and permanent residents.
She said that despite her and her family’s being holders of MyKad, they hastily abandoned their home when the police sweeps started Monday night.
She said that from a distance, she saw how those caught during the raid suffered in the hands of Malaysian policemen. “We sailed from Sandakan to nearby islands. From one island to another, until we reached a small island where we took [an outrigger] for the Philippines.
We begged hard so they would allow us into one of the [their boats],” she said. Carla Manlaw, 47, said the extreme fear of Malaysian policemen, with stories of abuses and killings, prompted her and other Filipinos to leave for Bongao in Tawi-Tawi. Manlaw and 99 others, including children and elderly people, reached Philippine waters in two motorboats after sailing for about two hours from Sandakan.
They were intercepted and escorted by a Philippine Navy ship to Bongao late Friday. “My employer had no problem with having a Filipino worker.
But what bothered me was the police,” she said. Manlaw said the other Filipinos in her boat fled because of fear. “What will they do to us?” she said, quoting her fellow refugees.
She said that when she heard that a vessel was leaving for Bongao from Sandakan, she immediately grabbed her things and went for it.

Investigate now

Mayor Hussin Amin of Jolo, Sulu, said the accounts of Filipinos fleeing police abuse in Sabah were “alarming and disturbing” and the Philippine government should look into it.
He said he had spoken with many refugees and their stories were the same: Malaysian soldiers and policemen do not distinguish between illegal immigrants and MyKad holders.
“Soldiers and policemen stormed their houses and even those with legitimate working papers like passports and IC papers were not spared. These documents were allegedly torn before their eyes.
Men were told to run and were shot if they did. Those who refused were beaten black and blue. Filipinos in jail were executed,” Amin said by phone late Friday.

What’s really happening?

“We are asking our government to investigate now. Refugees from Sandakan and Sabah had spoken to us about their ordeals.
If indeed what they have been telling us is true, then Malaysian authorities are not just targeting the Kirams in Lahad Datu,” Amin said.
The New York-based Human Rights Watch also wants to know what is really happening in Sabah. Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director of Human Rights Watch, issued a statement on Friday saying that while the “situation on the ground in the conflict zone in Sabah is still quite murky,” Malaysia “should provide clear and accurate information on what had occurred.”
Robertson said the Malaysian authorities should “ensure the protection of all civilians in the area, and allow humanitarian access for the provision of emergency assistance to those affected by the violence.”

Detained without charges

“We’re concerned about the Malaysian government’s use of the Security Offenses Special Measures Act to detain reportedly more than 50 individuals, and call on the government to either charge them with a recognizable criminal offense or release them.
All parties to the conflict should heed the call of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to ‘act in full respect of international human rights norms and standards,” Robertson said.
Amin said that for now, he tended to believe the stories told by the refugees that Filipino men, especially Tausug, were being killed in the streets and in detention centers in Malaysia.
“Our people are treated like animals there and this has to stop because they are no longer hitting the Kirams,” Amin said.
He said one reason why he believed the stories was his observation that children and women were so “deeply traumatized” that they tried to flee when they saw Filipino policemen as they arrived in Jolo.
“Some (of them) even attempted to jump to the sea, thinking they were still in Malaysia,” he said, referring to scenes at the Jolo port this week. “I spoke to them and gave them assurance that they were all home and no one would harm them now and the policemen securing the port were not Malaysians but Filipinos protecting them,” Amin said.

things are getting really bad, like you have said they have started killing civilians just because they are philippino, including those LEGALLY there.

Taradji reported the arrest of Filipino men in Tawau and Kunak. Some of the arrested men, who showed immigration papers, were shot dead, she said, recounting reports by other Filipinos who fled Sabah with her. “Some of those arrested did not see jail because they were shot and killed,” Taradji said. She said those who had been locked up were also unlucky, as the Malaysian authorities were not feeding them. Read more: globalnation.inquirer.net... yet even with these HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS there is still no coverage in most western media. Malaysian soldiers and police involved are completely out of control apparently committing genocide yet the western press has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to it. where is the UN condemnation of it? where are the sanctions against these criminals? if the same thing happened in Iran, Iraq, south america, Africa etc we would be BOMBARDED by the press on it, yet it happens in the Pacific the world is strangely quiet about it.

I don't see the incentive for the Western powers to get involved. Is this a place with any oil, strategic location, or other benefit to invest in sending troops to clear the mess? The international authorities who make these decisions don't put "saving lives" high on the list from what I have seen. Hypocrisy is inevitable in their decisions.

FYI, there are usually American marines in Mindanao, helping train the military and to keep the MILF conflict perpetuated. Perhaps they could take a break from bothering the locals there and go do some real help in Sabah?
