Etna's resting and quiet after a long few days.

I’m looking forward to clear skies tomorrow and getting a peak at her fallen dome - maybe some photos.

Thanks so much for joining! We have a lot of fun here on this thread - and learn a lot too!

So far the vineyard is suffering with all the ash. I've replanted for the third time this year.
I hear the ash is great for the soil - sure must be - we have the richest soil! I just don't know how long it takes for the ash to break down to a useful form. I'll have to check, I've been meaning to.

This morning she's still putting out smoke and ash but not in the copious amount from days past. So let's sneak away from this thread very very slowly and quietly and hope she stays sleeping!

Just don't feel welcome and similar on "Puterman" threads etc , he has own way I got my or better say direction ..

Don't take it personally, Puters would be the first, and has done on many occasions, to admit he's a 'grumpy old man'. He really is harmless, and certainly he and muzzy know their stuff.

Good morning everyone.

Etna's New Southeast Crater is again producing Strombolian activity and this is showing a slow increase. Etna's New Southeast Crater is slowly building up toward its next paroxysm which could occur within hours but maybe it will take one to two days, always difficult to tell with her. Expect lava fountains, small lava flows, and a heavy cloud of loose material. Today the wind is blowing towards Catania, and its international airport. Incandescence can be seen at night.

She is off again and there is a warning because the ash is heading for the airport. Don't know if you can see the start of the fountain?

Pressure still rising and the Sismici growing stronger .

Gracie are you there or taking pics. Column looks spectacular. Take care.

Can't see much but she sure is getting LOUD and really shaking now.

Must be near the peak of this episode. Can't see much for the ash and smoke which looks black. Are you getting the fallout?

No fallout here - it's headed towards Catania - and it is getting black!
I still can't see the base - but above the clouds is crazy!

Just over the peak, but boy did she just throw out some stuff. Should slowly start to calm until the next one.
