How common is it to have cell phone service to go out and windows broken from one meteorite?

I think that would be a result of the effects of a supersonic wave produced by the incoming meteor, if that's what it is.

Phage would know this better.

Peace

Here's another good video of the "asteroid".

What's weird is that last night I saw two meteorites fall in a pasture only a few hundred feet away from me within a 30 minute period. I wonder if they were tiny fragments from wherever this one came from.

That video's time stamp is for dec 31 2012....

As far as I know, DA14 is going to be observed and relayed to a live nasa feed by Western Australia (yay us) at about 3:26am tomorrow morning.

I think russia might be something else.

There is some really good footage of this and the LOUD explosions are amazing.

I'm no expert but all the videos exhibit the classic traits of meteors entering the atmosphere with the flare up and speed.
It must of been rather large to cause such a loud explosion (going on these videos are real).

The date on the camera could just be wrong..

I'm guessing it also caused the earthquake in Druzhina, Russia. Registered at a 6.1 Magnitude.

Breaking News: Meteorite Crashes in Russia

rt.com

A series of explosions in the skies of Russia’s Urals region, reportedly caused by a meteor shower, has sparked panic in three major cities. Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working.

Excellent find OP -

I just posted this thread www.abovetopsecret.com... just prior to you findings.
It's titled - "2013 Comet's: Year Of The God's Return".
That link gives proof of what this year is scheduled for.
(I will be adding to my thread and incorporating your cover story link.)
Thank you!

@Highjinxx -
Don't believe everything NASA sells.
In 1908 Tugunska was caused by a comet slighty smaller than this comet.

I noticed that as well, however the other videos match up with the it. The time of day and the way they enter is the same, I had to put it up to incorrect camera time. Unless you can point me to an event just like this in December in Russia that they just happened to wait until today to post, I'm going to say that it's the same event that this thread is discussing.

Thank you SO much for clarifying. Sadly, as much as I'm in to star gazing and hoping someday to afford a scope of my own, I still don't know a lot. This is how one learns, however, so seriously thank you for clearing it up for me (and others, I saw a few starred my reply there).

That trail it leaves seems rather odd do you not think? Could a meteorite create two "streams" like that? Two separate pieces maybe?
edit on 14-2-2013 by homeslice because: (no reason given)

It starts out as a single trail... The entire time that it was lit up, it would have been burning, and likely disintegrating. It would not be out of the realm of possibility that it split into two larger fragment around there.

Gov says meteor
People says military hardware failure

Think I might go with the people.

When have other meteor sightings had some type of vapor-ish trail of that size if any?

Those have got to be the best meteorite videos I have ever seen.

Spectacular to see the contrail (ahem 'chemtrail' LOL) to hear the sonic boom and explosions of the rock breaking up as it enters the atmosphere.

Would have been scary to witness, would seem like the end of the world.

My bets are on it not being a meteorite.

Airspace accident, missile, something like that.

Homeslice www.abovetopsecret.com... yes, those look and sound like today's event (from descriptions I read elsewhere.)

By the way peeps, the Urals (where the object exploded) are in the western part of Russia and those 6.+ quakes today (still quaking there) are over on the Northeast area. The quakes have been going for almost a day now.

And yes, Da2014 is something else ... still 18 more hours before we get to watch it live events.slooh.com...

rt.com...

The link keeps updating with new info, but I saw this..

"Police in the Chelyabinsk region are reportedly on high alert, and have enacted the ‘Fortress’ plan in order to protect vital infrastructure."

What's the Fortress plan?
