I just want to know where the hell is the aid for the homeless? You got these banks (that we the people bailed out by the way) throwing people out of their homes and our government is sending 56 billion dollars to foreign countries? I'm sick of the rich getting richer in this country while the rest of us slave our lives away for nothing. You got double digit unemployment in many parts of this country and you expect people to live where when they don't have no job? You can't go build yourself a cabin in the woods because you get thrown in a cage. You can't live on a public street because you get thrown in a cage. And you can't live in your car because you get thrown in a cage. So what's the answer?

It seems that if you can't slave your entire life away until you're 85, you simply get thrown in a cage. That's the American mentality. But I want to know where the Government expects people to live when they only get 30 hours a week because companies don't want to pay for Obamacare. I want to know where you go when you lose your job and the bank takes your house? 56 billion dollars to foreign nations and we the people get tossed aside when we can't make blood from a stone?

I say we take that 56 billion dollars and invest it back into our communities. Take these foreclosed homes and set up a program to get the homeless off the damn street. Stop all the useless spending on war while literally giving money away over to some African nation. Rebuild America.

I'm really getting sick of this "let them eat cake" mentality in this country. There is absolutely no excuse for anyone in this country to be homeless while the President spends millions of taxpayer's money on a single vacation. The greed knows no limit. It's disgusting.

I couldn't agree with you more!

Now, where shall we get started?

People should be marching in the streets in every city. Yet they are not. Why?

I don't get it.

You give poor people money they will just waste it and end up poor again.

The country cannot stop functioning because lazy folk can't get off their asses and improve their situations.

That foreign aid money buys us influence.

You wont see people hit the streets in anger, unless you have 50% unemployment, or financial collapse. As long as poor people can get some type of Government assistance, Those people who are poor and barely able to feed themselves wont complain. The process is designed to keep EVERYONE blind, even if the TENT CITY is in their backyard.....

I'd like to see if you have the same attitude if you lose your job and simply can't find another. Double digit unemployment is no joke. Just because someone is unemployment doesn't mean they're lazy and want things handed to them. You have people with college degrees working at walmart or unemployment. I guess they're just lazy too?

Thats a huge generalization, and for the most part pretty much not accurate. With the economy tanking, prices rising, and as the OP stated, the banks we bailed out foreclosing, a lot of people are losing their jobs and homes. Last year the local charities and shelters were at record numbers.

Granted there are some that are lazy, or who let drugs/alcohol control their life, but there are also people who lost their jobs, couldn't find a new one in time to save their house and are now homeless and without transportation or money or food. Try getting a job in second hand clothes, with no phone, no residence, and no transportation. For most people it takes years to get back out of that situation.

Every time we send foreign aid to another country it makes me sick. Take care of home first, we are not the worlds nanny, military, or provider.

I wanted a new computer a few months ago and my wife refused to let me use our savings to buy one. I had a crappy job within a week.

People can't find work because they refuse to do what they have to. These kids with college degrees could be out shoveling snow or whatever if they wanted.

They refuse to do stuff like that though. They are lazy.

Sure it's not hard to find work at Mcdonalds when you already have a job, residence, transportation and contact information. Try doing the same thing from a park bench. Even better, try living off just that Mcdonalds wage.

Its nothing but being smart and preparing for bad times.

Show me any poor person and I will show you mistakes they have made that put them in the situation they are.

With the exception of a horrific accident or disease there is no excuse.

And work 3 jobs at mcdonalds if you have too. People are lazy.

How can illegals find work yet regular citizens cannot?

You guys need to quit making excuses for these lazy bums.

So what, Americans are superior to other human beings?

I think the real injustice is that certain Americans have billions of dollars they have acquired from cheating while people sleep on the street needlessly. We have far more than enough resources they're just distributed poorly because of the public's sacred belief in dog eat dog social Darwinism.

It's simply that corruption breeds corruption. It's not dog eat dog or even capitalism because the deck is stacked against the average person from the start. It's a scam. The system is designed to keep the rich rich and the poor on their endless treadmill. "You can be just like me one day if you work hard enough" ...right, and then we woke up.

Capitalism makes the rich richer and poor poorer, because it's much easier to make money when you have "capital", whether it's in terms of material wealth and its representations or in terms of social capital and connections to other people.

There's no conspiracy required to explain why capitalism causes the rich to grow richer at the expense of the poor. Capitalism is a straight road back to feudalism.

Why can't you be like someone else?

Does our government force you to make stupid decisions like running up your credit, getting a woman pregnant at 18, not working or saving your money?

Or are these choices people make themselves that eventually lead to them being poor?

The fact that people no longer expect anyone to have any responsibility anymore is very disturbing.

I can agree with a free market and even capitalism to an extent, the problem is, we no longer operate under a free or capitalist market. For example, back in the day you could start up a cab company and make your own business. Today, you need an absurd amount of money to even get off the ground. The rules, regulations, paperwork, government interference, laws, etc. are what protect the existing monopoly. There can't be a free market while banks are too big to fail.

The problem with saying capitalism is bad is that not a single living person on this planet has experienced true capitalism. It's all crony capitalism with rules designed to protect the monopoly.

Hey, you must be one of those special 1% types there talking about getting a McDonalds job. It takes connections these days!

McDonalds Hires 62,000, Turns Away Over 938,000 Applicants For Minimum Wage, Part-Time Jobs

Who would ever have thought we'd see the nation go so low as to FIGHT over the right to ask if you'd like fries with your order?

^^^ Thats from 2011 by the way. It's gotten considerably worse. Crazy world we're in right now, isn't it?

Apparently getting a job at Mcdonalds is easy and we're all lazy if we don't jump at the chance to work at 3 or 4 different fast food joints a day.

I got a job at Mcdonalds and it took me two days. Dropped off the application and they called right back. Worked there for about a month and quit.

Its not hard to find work if you want it. I also got a part-time job picking up trash at a local museum. They hired me on the spot.

Don't tell me that there is no work out there.

Do you really think it's that easy? Pretty much every job that pays a livable wage now requires a college education, which is so expensive it's essentially a form of bondage. Automation has made it so that blue collar work is not something everyone can go into.

And let's face it, most people just aren't smart enough to be engineers or doctors. It takes a brilliant mind to do those kinds of things. So yes I think there needs to be elements of socialism to protect people from the predatory aspects of the market and no, I don't think hard work equals success as wonderful as it would be if that was the truth.
