Here is the reason for the ops question about many cities having a China town:

As was posted, birds of a feather will flock together. In many large urban areas, people will tend to gather that have a similar back ground. So if you go to any large city, you will see this all around all you have to look. There will be parts of the city where one group or another will tend to live and congregrate putting their cultural touch on the area at a whole.

But here is the question, how old of a city are you looking at? in some of the older cities, you will find, that if you go back into the history of the city and the country that is where immigrants from one country or another tended to gravitate to. So in the case of China town, at one time there were many laws that were very discrimnatory towards the Chinese immigrants, forcing them into one district or another, thus the term: China Town. Later in the years as these restrictions let up or finally were gotten rid of, the names still remained behind.

Seattle has a great Chinatown. Like others have said already, birds of a feather flock together...besides you can't get any better Humbow than you can in Chinatown.

And speaking of Seattle, I - like any other descendant of Swedish immigrants here - knows full well that there is also a "Swedishtown" in Seattle. Although here it's called Ballard instead of Swedishtown. My half Swedish father was born in Ballard as were myself and my sister. That's just where the immigrant Swedish fishermen in my family settled way back then in 1896 - with the other Swedish immigrants. Birds of a feather.

I always just assumed it was due to their large numbers, interesting that you point out a lack of japantowns as there are also large numbers of Japanese people. Food for thought.

However. There are no Americatowns in China. Odd. Don't you think? The Chinese won't need to invade. The Chinese are already here. They own us. Mr. President is in their deep Chinese pockets. The clock is ticking to C-Day. Think about it.

No, but it is full of American owned corporations.

American & International Corporations In China

And it doesn't mean no Americans live there.

Americans in China - American Expats in China

There are a lot of America towns in other countries though, they call them USAI's, USNI's etc.

Here in South Africa, its not just the big cities-in the very small town where i live, there are a few Chinese nationals with businesses too, clothing and gift shops. My teenage daughter's theory is,that these here, wished to escape the One Child-policy.Could be,they are are very young adults, ive only ever noticed 2 elders, and the young women have all started families, and have at least one child, with more visibly on the way.Certainly no Triad activity here, though i could'nt say what happens in the cities.I worked for a small business that was sold to a young Chinese man,19/20 years ago,in Cape Town, and i know he was embroiled in a murder trial, regarding the murder of a fellow Chinese businessman,he eventually fled the country before the trial was concluded. Those standing trial with him, were locals though, people of the white race. The ones i saw with him, when they were having their discussions, but of course, thats not to say there were'nt other Chinese involved.I like Chinese people just fine, though i dont socialise with them-The ones here are'nt really people who ever mix or socialise outside their own group. They keep themselves to themselves.

Why do so many cities have a "Chinatown", but none have a AfghanTown ,JapanTown,ArabTown,AfricaTown,IrakTown, and so on ?

Like many other communities, the older Chinatowns have their share of social problems. Although Chinatowns are now generally viewed and valued as tourist attractions, their earlier reputation was that of dangerous or dilapidated ghettos and slums, sites of brothels, opium dens, and gambling halls ruled by the Triads .

We all know that the chinese have a very closed community and they dont interact with natives of the countries where they have their precious ChinaTown.
Also in the prisions of al mayor countries you rarely see a chinese.
So i was wondering now with all that is going on in the world.
How dangerous are they ?
We talk about integration of muslims in europe for example ,but nobody talks about the ChinaTowns that are present in every mayor city around the world.
I know for a fact that the buildings in the China Towns are owned by the Triads and this criminal organization has all sorts layers that go all the way to governments ,big ( legal )corporations and so fort..

here is a piece of the wiki about :
International activities

Triads are also active in other regions with significant overseas Chinese populations, apart from the Chinese mainland, Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Triads are known to be operating in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Argentina. They are often involved in helping immigrants enter countries illegally. Shanty & Mishra (2007) estimate that annual profits from narcotics is $200 billion; revenues from human trafficking into Europe and the United States are believed to amount to $3.5 billion per year.
Triad (underground society)

Chinese mafia’s “state within a state”

So how Power Full are They ?
And should we not put a stop to this?

If you go to LA or NY or Paris or London you will find that there are areas that are dominated by particular nationalities and races. They arn't necessarily called 'japan town' or 'arab town', but they do exist. Many cities have places coloquially known as 'little india'. On the flip side many Asian cities and Middle Eastern cities have areas where English, Australians and Americans are numerous. In Beijing there are certain areas populated almost exclusively by westerners.

Triads exist, but so do Mafia, Common white criminals, black gangs, middle eastern gangs, korean gangs, Russian gangs etc etc. You should try travelling.

What country are you from? have you ever left it?
