No one seems to know the reason for the differences between em. Brother, there are a few!!

Here's some I've thought of. Maybe you can add to them...

A liberal would never use a handicapped stall in a public restroom. A conservative using a public restroom would check for paper....

A liberal would do what he was told by his wife. A conservative would check for that "PMS" look...then decide..

A liberal recycles cans and bottles. A conservative saves em for target practice.

If a liberal owns a dog, the dog is boss. If a conservative owns a dog,...the issue is still undecided.

A liberal thinks about minorities. A conservative know he's a "minority of one".

A liberal thinks of "change" or "progress". A conservative doesn't fix what isn't broken.

A liberal doesn't mind pulling the trigger repeatedly. A conservative just wants to hold the trigger down....

A liberal depends compassion and feeling good. A conservative's security blanket is Smith and Wesson.

I'm sure there'll be some additions as well as rebuttals. All in good fun/comic relief....

Pretty funny but I think these are kinda generalizations and this is a serious crowd that wears their politics on their sleeve.
Good luck with this!

Liberals have guns and PMS too though
and Conservatives are not the party of one - that would be the Libertarians.

Here, I fixed it for you.
Now you don't appear ignorant about the other 95.5% population of the world.

I'm conservative, read that as I don't give a rat's ass about the rest of the world.

Don't over analyze.LOL. I didn't say Liberal women don't have PMS. I said liberals obey their wife whether they are PMS or not. Also, I said Liberals are willing to pull the trigger repeatedly. That suggests gun ownership by liberals as well. AND, many "conservatives" that vote republican believe in the "minority of one" and don't care for the Libertarian solutions completely...
This is a fun thread, I hope...

See, I'm conservative too, but I do care from a pragmatical point of view.

Fine. I stand corrected. Comic relief is tough when everyone is wound up tight. A little laughter tends to put things in a more pragmatic point of view, in my experience.

So, i will add one more...

A (U.S) liberal is swayed by "international opinion". A (U.S.) conservative a tad less so...cough, cough..

Definitly generalizations, on a percentile basis, probably accurate though. It does point out differences in the thinking between the two, some humourous, some serious.

Apparently, dilectic materialism doesn't work, if these threads are any indication...

Agreed, a little laughter is always good
especially us Germans are often said to have a little too much of our boring seriousness. There, I said it.
Sometimes when we try to be funny, foreigners even think we're hostile... I have no idea why that is.

Also, by no means would I suggest to be more "swayed by international opinion".
If anything, a little more awareness for domestic issues is appropriate, in view of the ongoing centralism throughout the world nowadays. Just don't be ignorant in the process is all I'm saying.

I just realized that I'm way too drunk to post lol.

Thanks for the advice. I try to be aware of outside views, I think.

Putting our house in order, once we get the definition of "good order" clarified, is the obvious need. It had better be pretty soon if it's to survive as "The United States of America."

Apologies, should read dialectic materialism, not dilectic....

The difference between liberals and conservatives? There isn't one

Liberal and conservative - both labels, set for a particular "class" of people in our country. Who ever said we have to follow one or the other?

I don't believe in discrimination. I love the idea of progress and change for humanity. I think recycling is a good idea. But also, I do believe in God, and I do tend to lean towards Bible-based values... and I do love my guns.

So, if you had to label me, I would be both, a liberal and a conservative.

But by my standards, I'm just an American with personal values. Nothing more.

You all focus too much on labels that someone else has set for you.

Just follow your own rules and values.

No argument from me. Again a bit of a spoof here. There's many that fall into the "label" of moderate democrats, same for the "republicans". Many exceptions to the generality...

I am sure, however, that they'd be fairly accurate if measured by a "percentage". At least the none spoof ones I.E. gun owners are probably more in the "right camp" than the left. so on.

Many do call themselves one or the other. All have some exception to their "party". Some many. I suppose it would be fair to call a person by one of those labels if they consistently vote for that party line.

Bottem line, if you don't consider yourself either one, then the thread isn't addressed to you directly. It can be a source of amusment. In other words, lighten up a bit and take it in the spirit it was intended.

That leads to the next difference....

Liberals seem to have a scarcity of a sense of humour/happiness from what I can see...you sure your not a "liberal"?

If the liberals were still "liberals", I'd still be one. Even they have changed their "label" to progressives.LOL.

Socialism, wealth redistribution, more and more restrictions, regulations, rules. Whether the majority agree or not.

Yes, there's still real liberals in the democrat party. Not enough in my mind. the day of the Scoop Jacksons, of JFKs, the Joe Liebermans are gone. I left because of it. (Ronald Reagan helped, too. Of course he left, as well).

Once again, the thread was in fun...still is....
