I saw this in spaceweather.com today. What caught my eye was perhaps this triangular shape on the side of the Sun. It's partially covered by the arches of several CME's.

I displayed in in both red and black lines.
spaceweather.com...

Here is the last triangle that was spotted last year.

I'm just not seeing it OP. It's like looking at an ink blot and randomly picking out what your subconscious is comfortable with.
(and THIS is coming from someone like me who has his share of "WTF is next to the Sun" threads too
)

Then why are you scared?
I just thought it was interesting, not scary.

I am just glad it is not an isosceles. Those triangles are the worst!!
Just having some fun. In all seriousness though, I am not impressed until I see a dodecahedron.

I love the misunderstandings people have.

It isn't a "hole" rather a lower density area of coronasphere of lower temperature

Misunderstandings..

It's probably more fun to say its an actual triangle tho'

Yes and Pythagoras is smiling and laughing in his grave...You are seeing what you want to see in my opinion. I see what looks like a naturally occurring nuclear reactor.....call me cynical...

That is a great picture of the sun,. But that's no triangle

Don't see it. I thought the last one looked more like the "S" on Superman's costume.

I tried really hard to see a triangle in the first pic, but I couldn't find it.

After you made your triangle in the next pic, I could see not only the one you marked but a couple of others.

As was said above, ink blot.

It sort of reminds me of the famous "Big Bird" on the sun, from a couple of months ago, and some artists having some fun with the pic
.

From my OP. This is from Jan 18, 2013

It seems to be rotating.

Updated photo from Jan 21, 2013, thanks to TauCetixeta.

Now that it has rotated, become larger, and spotted by additional members, do you see it now?

Good catch man, at first I thought this was a dupe thread and then realized you spotted it days before it rotated into view ...

Try Telescope 211 ( purple ).
It shows up well in green also.
I just tried AIA Composite 211, 193, 171.

Maybe it's swamp gas ?
