Even though aliens exist, there is a conspiracy to assume the existence of aliens, mainly;

TO KEEP OUR ATTENTION AWAY FROM ANIMALABUSE.

Animalabuse hurts our spirits and minds and inner childs devastatingly. I chose to eat no more animal products when they are abused during their lives, when they are bred for consumption in awful circumstances, illnesses and killed at young age.

with tears,

Angle

Just out of curiosity.

What say you about Cattle Mutilations? Where supposedly Aliens grab a cow and only remove an eyeball, the tongue, it's udder [if female] and testicles [if male] and then toss it out from on high to crash to Earth?

Or are those the result of Men In Black in Silent black choppers...?

If the animals do not want to eaten why don't they evolved to taste bad.
Oh and thanks for the most silly post I have seen on ATS.
Lamb...lovely
Pigs.....Yummy
Beef.....tasty
Duck....Yummy in my tummy
Meat tastes good

Granted keep them in decent conditions but your reasoning is just silly.

Hmmm.....how does a belief in aliens distract people from animal abuse?

Not sure what one has to do with the other as I would think there are quite a few vegans who believe in ET.

Not me mind you. I couldn't live without meat.

It sucks that they're mistreated, but they taste so delicious!

I think about ufology, conspiracies, and animal abuse.

And I am forever traumatized by all of them. Ruined.

Ambush thread.

Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to go get a hamburger.

I don't see the connection.
This is like saying, the reason we go to war, is to distract us from the decline of musical creativity in todays music...

they simply don't connect..at all....

I can research about ET and still care if seals are being clubbed for sport and nice shoes...

Now, why not redo a thread, drop the alien thing, and simply put out a intelligent and thoughtful post about the issue of animal abuse, consuming meat and our health, etc...

This is simply going to go downhill quick.

When we can grow meat I will turn to that but for now I will eat any animal at least once...deep fried baby panda anyone?

(jk BTW)

Now another question what If the Aliens taste good?

But back to the OP we can't even treat our fellow humans right and you care about animals more...let's treat our fellow man better and then we can sort out the animals.

I can kind of see the OPs point though. In the past many early cultures had to hunt for meat then upon killing the beast would honor it for giving up it's life to sustain them.

Presently, we have factory killing. No honoring, just animals being born, raised in confined space and then slaughtered in a production line fashion. Sad but true.

Having said that I wouldn't give up a perfectly done Rib-Eye just yet

Our fault though as consumers, we want cheaper meat so they have to do that.
BTW I'am all for treating them better but when the debate is presented like the OP has done I just wanna eat as many animals as I can

In 5 maybe 10 years we will eat meat that is grown (maybe just a guess) and seeing that keeping all the livestock is bad for the environment we will turn to insects.
The thing many people forget is If we didn't eat cows how many cows would be alive today?

Angle, I feel your pain.

I have stopped eating any animal products for the same reason, about 17 months ago.

So, in my case: no more meat, eggs, milk and cheese. No more animal products.

I only eat: fruit, vegetables, nuts, grains and seeds.

I have been doing this for 17 months now, and I am still fine.
I don't want to be part of all the animal abuse, which is prevalent in the food industry.

Having just recently watched Food Inc. I can safely say that the methods that our food industry use to feed us are not ideal.

But we are in a Catch-22 situation. If we went back to the old ways of food production (ie. no factory farms, no growth hormones, no government subsidies, more crop diversity) the price of food would triple or more. Millions of people would starve. It would be bad. And it's just not going to happen.

Now, that's not to say that we shouldn't be eating meat. I am not a vegetarian and eating meat helped us evolve the bigger brains that made us human. There is no truth to vegetarian claims that humans are not evolved to eat meat.

What say you about Cattle Mutilations

that could be an attempt to make it more faceable for people, aliens mutilate the animals instead of people

The problem is that 99% of them are NOT kept in decent conditions, nor are they slaughtered humanely. In fact, the conditions on factory farms (and almost ALL meat in the civilized world is from factory farms) are not just indecent, they are indeed nightmarish, monstrous, and atrocious. The problem, for me, is not that people eat meat. The problem is the pervasive evil of inhumane treatment in the factory farm industry. You doubt it is pervasive? Visit a factory farm and see for yourself.

No we would not starve. We would simply have to adjust our diets to eat less meat. In fact, there would be a lot MORE food resources available for humans if so much of our plant resources didn't go to feed animals in factory farms. Meat has a notoriously poor Feed Conversion Efficiency.
