I doubt if many of those earning $250K above would be here, but I am very sure that there are families, relatives and friends here who know of such persons in that tax bracket, and this appeal falls upon them to reach out to the wealthy, for together, we make up our society.

Alhough the financial cliff is temporary averted, much funds are still needed for help from the wealthy. After the acrimonious infantile acts in Congress, now it is to go beyond that - an appeal for voluntary effort and integrity from the rich.

Even though in a financial crisis, the rich had not suffered much. Perhaps no new lamboghanni this year, or lesser trips to Paris, etc. But when compared to the suffering middle class and poor, whom struggles with bills, education, low wages, life to live, the rich are living a good life.

It is time for all to share. Good times do not last, but so too bad times.

When good times return, the rich can continue with their self indulgence as they please. But these times are not good times, and many need help, not of the sinking hole charity type, but the 'teach a man to fish' kind whereby wealth is distributed as social expenses to elevate all, leaving none behind.

America is not broke, as its human capital alone is priceless. It has only cash flow problems. And the rich can help by easing this flow by contributing more taxes. It will not be used for moronic bush type wars, but for social expenditure such as education, health, infrastructure projects, etc.

Improving health will improve the economy, as more will return to work and less sick leaves. Improving education will enlarge the pool of thinkers and doers that will make a society grow economically and socially. Improving infrastructures will ensure greater productivity for the economy to thrive, with less time wasted in jams or alternate routes, better electrical supply, better subsidary factory and recreation support, etc.

Helping out now will not only ensure helping fellow americans, but the economy as well, as it will stimulate, create jobs and may even DOUBLE the GDP with so much economic activities to be carried out.

Money needs to be circulated. Horded up, it will only gather dust. And worse will be the austerity driven mob middle classes and poor, whom will see a real wealth gap.

Their forefathers had helped made the rich today through their sacrifices in hard work and blood to building up the nation. But the descendants are now suffering, while the rich hoarded up their wealth, gambled in casinoes in LA and Wall ST, or push up property prices and rents by speculating on properties resulted the 99% soon to live off the streets.

Thus, this appeal is made today before push comes to shove, as it ultimately will. That which is build up, can be brought down if only the few gets to benefit unconscionably more while the rest suffers. This is no mere opinion, but facts and reality - just look at what is happening in Greece, Spain, Europe, etc. Is this what the rich wants America to be?

May the rich wake up in time and realize what they are doing to society. We came with nothing and will leave this planet with nothing anyway.....

this is nonsense. Since when did saving money turn to "cash hording"? Blowing your money and running up the credit cards is what got us here in the first place. Theres more pain to come.

you can confiscate all the top 1%ers wages for the year and you will still be in deficit that year!

How is taking money from someone and giving it to the government going to create jobs?

Schools, roads and bridges. Its always schools roads and bridges. wasnt the stimulus package going to fix all this 4-5 years ago.??? that worked out well.

The government can only create temp jobs funded by the confiscation of others wealth. You cant make wealth from stealing it.

To create TRUE jobs you need to create wealth. wealth is created by making a good from raw materials or providing a service based on those raw goods being created.

The only thing government provides is misery, wealth destruction, and death via wars. Government is not the awnser. LIBERTY is the awnser!

DONT TREAD ON ME!

Or, how about instead of voluntarily giving more money to a government rife with waste, they use their income however they damned well please. And no, I'm nowhere near an income of those levels, but I'd much rather see people of more income create private sector opportunities than throw good money after bad in the public sector. At least that way they have a snowball's chance of seeing something for their investment.

So, you are asking those who work and provide jobs for others, to bail out our government....

Surely you jest....

Did I just read that right? You're asking for "donations" to the federal government???

Sheeeeeeeeyat!!!

After decades of an unfair and biased tax system... After years of punishing and burdensome regulations that have cost small business owners their livelihoods... After years of onerous persecution against anyone experiencing anything akin to success... you have the audacity to ask for more handouts? WTH!?

I've got a MUCH better idea. Cut spending and cut everyone's taxes so that EVERYONE pays the same rate - equal protection under the law requires it!

Let's take a poll on that and see how many Americans favor that over your idea.

Thank you all for your replies.

While mulling over this concept, I was aware of the responses from the rich, their bootlickers, party hacks, as well as the selfish mom & pop shop owners whom had been benefitting from others, refused to share now and screaming unfairness.

The financial crisis do not develope from credit card defaults. If so, the economy would have been doing well, as spending then would be in rage. Those who defaulted are kicked aside while many more new entrants each year will come into the market to spend and fuel that growth.

Only fools and idiots would think credit cards was the cause.

No one loves taxes. But the reality is that as we are living in a civilised society, someone will have to pay for the administration of the state. Even our jungle dwelling turned farmers ancestors are aware of such realities, but sadly fools and idiots present day don't seem to.

America is no long the 13 original states, but have 50 states with a population of 300 million growing as well as a huge entreprenuerial private firms with links and intentions to go international. Humans by nature are beasts, more so the banking/manufacturing/ service corporations as they had proven how selfish they had been - privatising profits but socializing debts, as well not paying honest taxes, abandoning american workers whom made them great for cheap slave labour overseas .

Thus, more regulations are needed and calls for a larger pool of professionals and support staff. No one loves big govt, but at the rate USA is progressing and evolving, more administrators would be needed to ensure fair opportunity for all.

The stimulus package had been a provened success, as the economy is growing. Look at the clowns over Europe and you can see the evidence with their austerity stupidity. But more is needed, as USA have a large population and the wealthy refusing to share their wealth.

To create new wealth, old weath is needed to inject into efforts to mine or service that wealth. Capital dont drop from the sky and have to come from somewhere. This is something fools and idiots dont realize in the face of their misery over parting a few more dollars in taxes to help others.

Who is the govt but the REPRESENTATIVES of the people and nation? If we don't bail them out, who else will? Even if a new govt is elected, it will still face the same issues - funds, debts and growth.

Alone, our few dollars will not go far. But as a society of 300 million, those dollars will go a long way to help and elevate many others. But still, this is only an appeal. Each do still have a choice, but ultimately, there will be result/consequences of the choices we make - for the society to either succeed or fail. Once that choice is made, let there be no regrets or whinning.....

He can't be serious. The whole thing reads as comedy.

People with excessive wealth could create more jobs, or give to legitimate charities, but to an out of control government????? Too funny.

Government IS the problem.

Why should I pay more if some people choose to over-breed. Especially, if those over-breeders are not contributing to the tax system in the first place. I don't own any credit cards...cut them all up a long time ago. You make no sense in your allegations that we are responsible to pay for everybody. I'm responsible for myself and my Family. The taxes I pay to the feds...it's up to them to take care of whom they choose to give it to.

well the thread ended there for me.....you have no clue

Most "mom & pop" shop owners have gone without income at some point just to make payroll.
Most "mom & pop" shop owners employ a family member or two.
Most "mom & pop" shop owners put their homes and retirements on the line for the business.

Simple response HE&& NO, I pay far to much for what little I receive, ask me to pay more when their is ZERO welfare except for the old, crippled, and parentless children. If I see anymore escalades and SUV's that I can't afford parked in front of the welfare office, I might explode.

Thanks again for the replies. I would not define anyone who reply here as a troll. It is just that each has his/her own perspective that needed to be gotten off the chest. It can be theurapatic, rather than bottled inside, so long as no one is hurt or harmed.

Children are our most precious resource, and as a civilised society, we must do all we can to help and give them opportunities in life to grow up sane and contribute to the good of our society. Without children, there can be no continuation of a nation or even our world. They are part of the reason why we are even alive, as we had been for our forefathers and foremothers.

China and Japan are facing an aging silver population. They have not enough children to replace them, and soon, those countries will be in deep economic trouble. We must not end up like them.

Taxes - the contribution of a bit of what we have, will goes towards our future - their social expenditure.

I agree wholeheartedly that social welfare should be MEANS TESTED, to ensure our hard earned and contributed tax dollars go to the ones who truly need it, and not those whom can afford SUVs or live in mansions on the other side of town.

Futhermore, the middle classes and the poor should not be burdened with high taxes, but let each of them pay the minimum, and for those whom can share a bit more, search their hearts and contribute to taxes for regulated social expenditure, and not to the often dubious unregulated tax deductable 'charities'.

The rule of 'teaching a man to fish to feed him for life' must apply, and that can only happen through the govt's budget for social expenditure for education, jobs, health, etc.

Taxes is how we can fund a thriving society. In the past, some had thought that borrowing is good enough to fund the national budget without taxing the population. However, we this living generation had seen the folly of such 'borrowings' that had seen wealth being wastefully spent by elected representatives of our recent past.

Thus taxes now is the only option left, so as not to borrow again or in the least minimally the next time round to help us tide over. The wealthy had made enormous gains during this current lifetime, through their manipulation of all kinds of markets for themselves under the policy of privatising profits but socializing debts.

It is payback time now - the gentle version with the recent resumption of slightly higher taxes for the $400,000 above tax bracket, and my appeal to the $250,000 tax bracket folks to share and help out in these tough times.

If the wealthy and their bootlickers continue to ignore the masses, hoard up their wealth but spend it on casinoes of vegas and wall st, as well as property speculations instead of creating manufacturing/service/trade jobs, then a severe payback time will come - push comes to shove by the massses. May that not happen, but only if the rich listens.....

Tell you what, I might consider paying more IF I actually had a choice WHERE my money went. Why should I blindly write a check for an amount that might be used to fund another ketchup bottle efficiency study? Or for people who will NOT quit having babies when they can't afford them and expect me to pay for their care?

Who in their right mind runs a budget like this? If a failing business asks a bank for a loan for operating expenses, do you think the bank won't audit the business before lending?

I don't make over 250k, but have several family members that do. They made their money with their businesses and sacrficed heavily to get there. One of the businesses used to make that kind of money but is in dire straits because of the economy (construction). Do you honestly think that their workers are all going to pitch in to help make the company stay in business? Heck no, they won't. I am so tired of this B.S. about the "wealthy" they should not have to shoulder the riciculously enefficient government when they have no say in how the money is spent.
