LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A strong Nevada earthquake today 2013 has been felt in California. The Nevada earthquake today erupted twenty minutes ago. No reports of injuries have yet to be detailed by local news. Officials tell news that a 4.9 magnitude Nevada earthquake today started at 4:10 pm PST today. The quake however had virtually no depth, erupting close to ground level. USGS indicates to news that the quake was only centered six miles below the ground. As a result the quake could be felt across the vicinity in Nevada. USGS indicates to news that the Nevada earthquake today began seventeen miles south of Tonopah Junction, Nevada and twenty-seven miles west of Weepah. The quake was also thirty-three miles east of Qualeys Camps, officials tell news. The temblor started roughly one hundred eighty miles east of Sacramento. Moments later, a second quake struck the same area. USGS indicates to news that seven minutes later an aftershock erupted with reported a 3.1 magnitude. The same area was the location of a comparable quake last September 27. That quake was twenty-nine miles southwest of the Nevada town of Tokop. Officials also reported at the time that September quake was centered thirty miles from Nevada community of Beatty and one hundred thirty miles from Las Vegas. The quake was also centered fifty-five miles northeast of the California town of Olancha.
MINA, Nev. - The Nevada Seismological Laboratory is reporting a 5.2 magnitude earthquake about 24 miles south of Mina. They report the earthquake hit at 4:10pm Tuesday. So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries. The shaking was felt at the Hard'Rock Market in Mina. The owner tells KOLO 8 News Now she felt the shaking last for about 3-4 seconds, but nothing fell off her shelves. Calls to the Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah indicate people felt a small shake, but nothing to cause concern.

The earthquake took place within the Walker Lane Belt of western Nevada in a tectonic region termed the Mina Deflection. This area is area characterized by NE to EW striking left-lateral strike slip faults. Two Magnitude 5+ earthquakes in 2004 occurred about 30 miles west of todays event.

Its not volcanic however it may set one off??
