Yeah, you are right of course. I do highly recommend it though, especially to parents of young kids that have people pushing them to put their kids on ritalin and such.

I guess you are right, the folks in the cities need other people to serve their various needs. There is always genuine need for low-skill labor that even not the brightest person can master. Right on.

Who do you think grows the veggies, who do you think rears, raises, butchers and packages the meat?

Why do I need to think about a schmuck who packages my burgers some place in the middle of nowhere? I have better things to do.

Oh, definitely! Any young kids, really, considering how many sickos there are running around. Even other kids can be a danger these days. You know the world is messed up when you have to warn children to be careful of other children.

Because stuff happens. Bust a knuckle open while sanding some narrow steps and such things. It happens when working with your hands, hands get banged up.

Being good at something and liking it, doesn't make it any less hard manual work. I work very hard for my money, why would I let someone else take it from me?

City people are so irrational. You can't fix what is broken in your societies, that causes people to be so angry and lash out at others with whatever tool at their disposal. Instead of fixing that, you want to push federal restrictions, that effect areas that are not broken like your cities. You want to take certain tools away from the whole country, because some people in your cities misuse them tools. The underlying cause needs to be addressed and fixed, not the banning of tools these people misuse.

This generalization is so mind boggling, it's scary. There are all sorts of people living in the city, and all you have is a silly cookie-cutter notion of "irrational". Bleh.

You want to take certain tools away from the whole country, because some people in your cities misuse them tools.

I personally don't live in anything resembling a city. The part of Connecticut where the tragedy happened, I think, hardly qualifies as a city. So I'm at loss as to what you are trying to say here.

Newtown certainly isn't country, if that is what you are trying to imply. It's a suburb, which is why everyone freaked out. Suburbs give a great illusion of being close enough to the city, but far enough away to not be effected by it's violence. When that illusion is shattered, people freak out.

So now we have but two choices... sounds familiar.


Either armed guards in every school... welcome to the police state.

No citizen may possess a gun ever. Only the government and the police, oh and the criminals.

Why oh why do we let them determine the narrative on every single issue?

If you are pro 2nd amendment it does NOT mean you have to be pro-police state.

I think that is a great point. Having the NRA (GOVERNMENT) come out with this does have some question. We all need to look at this at all angles but some agree this EVENT, DRAMA does create some sort of emotion.

The Government wants us to fight.

The funny thing is that more honest discourse on common issues happen on ATS ( and some other sites, if someone wants to clue me in) than honest discourse in Congress or the Senate. Dont let me get started on the Powers they decided to give the White House.

There are many sides to this.

Think about it.

We have armed guards everywhere else, banks, airports, malls, etc.

Why NOT have armed guards at schools? Store owners have guns to protect their money. Why shouldn't we protect the children in schools with the same means?

That has been pointed out many times in this thread. Including myself. But, what does that create?? We cant even secure our borders let alone secure our kids.

Does the mandate come from the UN? I mean, the control is crazy to think about.

Why didnt the Lockerbie issue start this in the first place? Facebook and Twitter didnt exist back then. Why didnt the Munich Olympics cause such an issue?? Facebook and Twitter didnt exist back then.

We can go back to such many tragedies and wonder "why". We are in an era where mass media creates those questions. Whether there good or not, I think I look towards the 2nd Amendment and say I think EVERYONE deserves the right to bear arms to protect itself from......

It's quite suspicious the gun law issues. Why do they need armed guards ? The government knows who did it (theyselves) this is just another way to take all the rights from the people, lucky me that I live faaaar faar away usa... still the u.s government will affect my life as if I were american in the future.

The amount of guns and gun laws in the whole world is one topic i'm going to write in the following weeks in my blog.

I'm sure there are a few reasonable people in NRA, but let me say this: there is so much outrageous chest pounding and screaming about freedom and all on the part of NRA and GOP, and now what do we have?

What we have is the proposal from the same people who pretend they like freedom, to keep my kids in an environment reminiscent of a forced labor camp. H&K anyone?

Judging by the replies it sounds like some of you have had really bad experiences with LE in schools.

At my school they were fairly low key/plainclothes. Acting like a crazy cop would've invited retaliation.

Teachers were on their last nerve, not good candidates for concealed carry. The cops kept things calm. Most of the kids had dealt with cops their whole life. They knew the drill and didn't escalate around LE.

If you live in a violent place you either adapt or become a victim. For whatever reason suburbia is creating an extremely violent criminal element. It's tough to live around violence and there's no easy answers. I know we had our fill of it.

We now live in a county of 6500 people. There's probably more guns than people yet very few murders. I think it's less about guns and more about the people carrying them.

What would Jesus say to the NRA?
