The contract I had with my last literary agent expired. I plan on self-publishing my latest work (e-book, Amazon in a month or two).

What I will need is an editor though. Someone who can help me finalise the manuscript.

I'll pay standard industry rate.

Any takers?

This story is in it's edited form (for short stories) is here.

Thank you for your time.

Mods, ETA; I hope I'm not breaking any rules here. Just looking for professional help. (don't go there!

Hmm. Are you looking for someone with publishing connections? Someone to get it out there, instead of just dropping it on a convenient bookshelf?

Check my previous post. I'm looking it over on the other thread right now, but I need those questions answered first. I'm not what you would call a professional, but I am a writer in my free time. More of a hobby for me.

I'm looking for someone with editing experience. My first book was done by a former nazi prison guard who was just as demanding and cruel. -Actually a retired english teacher, but she WAS mean!

Are you looking for a book doctor or just some copy editing?

Be glad you never have to face Orson Scott Card. I know someone who went to a writing session with him - and Card liked his work!

As I said, I am not a professional, and I don't have what I would call experience in editing. As writing is a hobby of mine, I thought I'd offer, but I'll understand if my lack of qualifications takes me off the list.

Copy editing. I fragment like there's no tomorrow.

I was an editor for a couple writers on fanfic.net and fictionpress.net. Editing is hard...

Don't take it the wrong way, please. I need someone cruel. A mutual friend several years ago hooked me up with Jose Philip Farmer. A mentor and a resource. I need someone cruel. A fellow writer might be too sympathetic.

Which is why I would pay industry rate.

I don't know what that is, sounds nice though.

There are websites for people who are looking for editors, right?

It is funny, if a bit dated.

How many words we talking about here?

A small bespectacled man ran into the bar and stopped in front of Bob. Bob couldn’t hide the pallor of death on his features. He couldn’t hide the fact that he was one of the undead. But the small man ignored the obvious facts and stated, “Bob? I need your help. We need to save the planet.”

Beezer?

You want hard? Go ahead and U2U me.

In its rudimentary form, your writing is very good, very much alive.

P.S. You can't really pull an intentional Adams or Asprin.

60-80K

That's not that much. I would, if i was you, head over to fiction press and find an editor there. Its been a couple of years since i did any, but I will bet you will find some talented people on that site who would do it for cheap or even free.

Besides, I edited for like 4 people and I made 3 of them cry. I'm not a nice editor.

Not trying to. They may be an inspiration but that's all they are. This is all me. Undiluted.

This isn't exactly the best site for finding your editor though. A lot of people here are lucky to stumble through a sentence, much less provide valuable insight into the art of "making words flows" and "Making sense".

Good luck though.

If required, I'll go "outside" as it were. But thought I'd try at "home" first.

Your tenses are a little befuddled...

I'm no pro, with me it is more of an obsessive compulsive disorder and the reason as to why I stopped reading contemporary fiction

I do think that it is awfully nice that you are offering it up to the people on here first though and, given the amount of writers in these here parts, I am sure that even if you can't get a member to do it, they will be able to put a good recommendation your way.

Very best of luck with the book.
