Honestly, I would have to believe it to get upset by it... maybe thats why I hear on the news that they had to confiscate so and so's computer to link him to such and such crime... a few good ones come to mind.. what about the child porn rings and what not online.. where's the big bad government to shut that nasty down? come on.. peeps.

I don't think "they" care to stop child sex. I think "they" would rather you have your proclivities, and then "they" will leverage it against you when it is convenient. That is, if you even matter. Otherwise, "they" will let the regular LEO find you in their own good time, because as a peon, none of us really matter.

The kind of people that would starve a nation....do you think they care about a child being molested? It would be naive to think that someone with the mentality to have that kind of power would have any concern at all about such matters. Especially when they can use peoples proclivities against them as leverage.

Now I would have said the UK - there are an insane amount CCTVs in public places, some are monitored in real time.

Well if thats true then this country is very misleading, How can it be the land of the free if we are spied on? It Cant. But id like to see you explain why its the most spied on country

They might.

But more likely, they learned a lot from the totalitarian states of the past. It's hard for a state to just summarily execute dissidents even when they have absolute power without it eventually causing a stink and threatening their grip on power.

Mass executions were never the biggest threat even though they have happened. The biggest threat is that they will create new mental disorders for certain kinds of political dissidents and will use this to "disappear" people in broad daylight. You likely have seen how the general public responds to "conspiracy theorists". They have successfully built the illusion that anyone who asks questions or seems a little paranoid is a complete nut. And possibly dangerous.

I have suspected they will use psychology next time. The "concentration camps" will not look like camps. They will look more like hospitals or ordinary prisons.

Things usually don't get really bad in totalitarian surveillance societies until the state has the majority so under it's influence that they actually start to turn on dissidents and see them as criminals even if they aren't doing anything but talking. If your neighbors and family see you as a criminal because you dared to criticize the government or something, they can arrest you and it will be as legitimate as it would have been in the past if they arrested you for bank robbery.
