Oh and check this out as well. One of the most amazing sea creatures that I have ever seen... The "mimic octopus"

Wow what a strange yet fascinating creature! That's so clever, I wonder how it learned to do all of that as a species, must have taken years.

Oh and I had a search about that prehistoric Japanese shark it's called a Frilled Shark and it's uncommon and near threatened. I was wondering if they had killed it and dissected it because I thought it might have been a one off find but turns out theres more of them. man I wonder how many more other prehistoric species are still out there

Ive read that we know way more about space than we do about our own deep seas.

Yeah it's ridiculous a, rather than spending billions of dollars on exploring space why don't they explore our own planet properly first

back in the early 90's was on holiday doing some sailing on the indian ocean .... a couple nights saw circular approx 30-35 meter diameter objects moving just under the surface of the ocean ... watched the first night for 45 minutes second night watched it for two hours... quite fascinating and beautiful to see... saw similar on two other occasions sailing in the south china sea... no idea what they were...

Ok so this is for people that actually read through the thread before posting and will actually read this:
I don't mean to come off as angry or anything and am not meaning to shut anyone down but this thread is under the cryptozoology discussion board so although USO's are still mysterious, strange and interesting, I am more looking for stories and experiences to do with strange creatures and mythical beasts, so although your input about USO's is interesting it is off topic, thank you

well, to be fair doodles, even though you put this in the crypto forum, your title still says strange experiences at sea, so you cant blame people for posting their "strange experiences at sea" comments.

I always remember a story my grandad told me when i was younger,
he used to live on a remote island in the south atlantic and said that he
had seen many strange things while out in his boat around the island,
This one story always stuck with me tho, it was around the 1950's
when my grandad, his brother and a few of their buddies took a trip
round to the back of the island and camped out in "the caves" (which
are located on a beach) he said that they were all settling down for
the night n made a fire inside the caves for light and warmth, they
were sat around the fire when their dogs started growling and ran
out of the cave, as they all stood up about to go and investigate
the dogs ran back in behind them and the fire cowering and whinning,
then as they looked towards the entrance it was filled by "something big"
because of the pitch black of night they didnt see it in great detail but knew
whatever is was was a danger to them, i remember my grandad sayin the eyes
on this thing was as big as frying pans or dinner plates and it stood towering above them
as they tried warning it off with the fire until it left.
He said none of them got a wink of sleep afraid that this thing would return,
when they left the cave the next morning there were marks or as my grandad said
giant foot prints leading away from the cave back into the ocean.

I know this story may sound far fetched but i strongly believe everything he said
as he seemed a bit unsettled tellin this story to me.

hope you enojy!

This thread just reminded me of the time I was surfing off the coast of Madagascar when suddenly a giant purple manta ray with a huge unicorn-like horn sticking out of its head surfaced directly underneath me. He broke water and began to fly with me on his slimy back. I rode him for what seemed like days, but later woke up on the beach feeling groggy and weird. I looked at my watch and time had reversed itself by three hours and my surf board was nowhere to be found.

Not really. I didn't ride a purple manta ray either.

However, I did spend a month treking through the Amazon jungle just for "fun". Never again!

You know, the 50 foot seas I experienced on a 200 foot cutter was such an adrenaline rush but I dont think I could last 48 hours in the amazon, much less a month. I hate snakes and anything else that bites.

Yeah I know that's why I wrote that comment to try and clarify, not getting angry at anyone, if anything it is my fault for not making a clear Title, just didn't know what to call it and by the time I realized how stupid the title was it was too late

I just kind of assumed that people would see it in the cryptozoology forum and get what I was meaning by strange experiences, and I thought my opening post was kind of straight forward with what I was asking for, that's why with that comment I said people who actually read through the thread first
