One more time we got great news from one of the hottest archaeological areas in the world. The site will be investigated by Walter Alva, known by many other great discoveries like The Lord of Sipan.

Here some quick translations :

In order to define its characteristics and the role played in history Congona archaeological site, which would house a temple of Chavin culture traits on the heights of the Lambayeque region, will be subjected to an investigation.

"The stones represent the same deity of Chavín, a man, a cat and a bird that are mythical triad," said the specialist.

"The stones are there for a reason, according to studies, a temple that would reveal a great culture in the lambayecan mountains with housing, work, shrines. It would be a significant event that would change our view on the region, "he added.

After executing studies about the nature and importance of the findings, the monumental complex would be kept and placed on value for the knowledge of peruvians and foreign.

The Congona archaeological site is located in the high Andean district of Canaris, at 2,800 meters above the sea level.

I've never researched this particular civilization..

But I find the common link of cat and bird based deities throughout the world interesting. There is the sphinx in Egypt, and Quetzalcoatl in Aztec mythology, as well as many other examples I'm sure.

I've also come across some mythology, which is much more abstract, which claims a few of the most intelligent ET species are felines and reptillians (reptiles are linked to birds genetically). It's all really fascinating, good post.

Awesome. S&F.

This is another city that looks like it might have been originally started as megalithic, and finished with much smaller stones. Two eras, or two peoples?
