Being prepared spiritually is extremely important! Especially since the majority of us will die some mundane death, and not in some EOW catastrophe. SO, knowing that we are more likely to have a heart attack at work, or a car wreck on the way home, means we should make peace with not only our maker, but also every loved one we have. Live and Love without regrets. The Bug Out Bag, and prepping, is for those times that are inconvenient, like what New York and New Jersey are currently experiencing. The prepping is not for a deadly comet that is going to end mankind. The only preparation for a true armageddon is to live every day as if it is your last. Love openly and lavishly, and make sure if you get sideswiped by a dumptruck on the way to work in the morning, you haven't left anything unsaid or undone.

Finding one's God, is as easy as hugging your wife and kids and saying a short thank you prayer for the blessings that often go unnoticed. Do that often enough, and you are truly prepared to die.

Still important to do the prepping, because eventually every one of us will have a week-long power outtage, or a blizzard, or hurricane, or earthquake or tornado.

Do the prepping, because it is important skills and lifestyle to pass down to our next generations.

Do the prepping, because it is a healthy lifestyle, with much interaction between family members, and it is so much better than TV!

Do the prepping, because much of it occurs out doors, and what better place is there to spend time with the family and get spiritually prepared than in the good ol' outdoors?

Do the prepping for all those normal reasons, and love openly, and don't hold grudges, or withhold forgiveness, and make sure you never leave anything unsaid at the end of the day, and you are prepared.

If you want to wait for your god to save you, then it's up to you. I wish you good luck - you will desperately need it, when time comes. Just remember: your god will help you exactly like he helped those millions of people that were tortured and died in concentration camps during WW2.

P.S. By the way, you do not really ''hate to sound like religious person'', you just LOVE to sound like religious person - it feels in every your word.

But how come I do really good things for people, and donate spare change to charities, but yet I still have to struggle day to day to survive right now? I'm in a real life survival situation.. why hasn't the one you term "God" assisted me? Perhaps I'm not the most righteous person on the earth, but I'm by far from a malevolent person.

So say I'm in said situation, and I believe in "God" but I still don't get divine intervention like I should?

Have you asked Him? Pray believing. You might not get what you ask for, but you'll sense a presence. You'll know there's someone there.

Can you not have both ,in case one doesnt turn out to be the life saver you were hoping for
I can just see the congregation now , walking down the road on their way to the promised land ,bible in hand, hungry, tired and desperate and the survivalist hiding from them in the bushes, eating his sandwiches .

I'm definitely a slave then, i depend on my Wife all the time, she depends on me equally as well! I depend on my employees to turn up to work on Monday, as they depend on me to pay them on Friday, i depend on a good harvest from my own home-grown fruit and veg patches so i can eat, as they depend on me to look after them.

I'm a slave to to my fruit and veg

I hate to sound like a religious person but the universal fact is that you need to get close with the Maker if you want any real chance of survival. He alone decides where you will be at the time TSHTF. For all you know you could be 1000 miles away from your stockpile and never reach it. What if you panic and you can't find your bug out bag. So many what if's and you cannot possible plan contingency for all of them. Even if you carry your bug out bag with you at all times what if you leave it in the the burger king bathroom? You have no idea what is coming down the river at all. What if that there is no big tragedy which you can use your skills and materials. and nothing happens for decades until the day God forbid you die. You will have wasted your life on nothingness. My suggestion is for a small prep bag and give the rest to charity. Your heart tells you that this is true.

and this my friend is the reason you will be the first to die.

regarding the OP's specific situation of not being near your supply/tools/equipment at the time of need.

real preparation comes from learning the skills to survive, not by having up front, everything you are going to need for the next 20 years.
if i was cut off from my b0b, food, shelter.
i would acquire more from a lonely place out in any random Forrest i may chill in.

I believe we all should do what we think is right, whatever that is. It is damn arrogant to tell others to get right with God, based on your definition of what that means. We are all at different places in out consciousness development. You don't need to be a genius to know that the only person you have a chance of changing is yourself. below are a few wise words for all humans, that come from Taoism.

Therefore the wise person says:

I do nothing, and people become good by themselves. I seek peace, and people take care of their own problems. I do not meddle in their personal lives, and the people become prosperous. I let go of all my desire to control them,

and the people return to their natural ways.

The Tao Te Ching is very much based in observable reality. Lao Tzu observed his society and noticed different things that caused troubles. He mentioned that,

The highest good is not to seek to do good,

but to allow yourself to become good. The ordinary person seeks to do good things,

and finds that they cannot do them continually.

The wise person does not force virtue on others,

and thus is able to accomplish their task. The ordinary person who uses force,

will find that they accomplish nothing.

The kind person acts from the heart,

and accomplishes a multitude of things. The righteous person acts out of pity, yet leaves many things undone. The moral person will act out of duty, and when no one will respond

will roll up his sleeves and uses force.

When people cease acting in a natural way, they create "righteousness."

When righteousness is forgotten, they create morality. When morality is forgotten, they create laws. The law is the husk of faith,

and trust is the beginning of chaos.

Not at all. If I have merit and grace before the almighty I will be the last to die. So many factors that are beyond human comprehension go into your fate. Being nice to the cashier or not talking bad about your brother could in fact save your life. There is a big balance sheet in heaven and we are just chess pieces on a board. One action could tip the balance either way. Everyday we see evil people prospering and righteous people suffering. This is the way of God. I am not saying stop survival skills training. I am asking people to use wisdom.

Hmm, dang I never looked at that way before.

Okay, you've made a good point, I'll buy into it...

"Dear Lord, I pray to thee that I have the strength, endurance, and appropriate ninja skills to accurately slice off the head of the first SOB that tries to steal my food and water with my trusty samurai sword. Amen."

Thanks for the tip, OP!

Proverbs 16:19

Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.

Matthew 5

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Well, I don't feel very blessed when I have to endure hardship after hardship, despite my ability to try and change the outcomes of my own life.

Where is god when innocent children are killed each and every day via war, or starvation. I just don't see how some higher power can say "its for the greater good for people to suffer and believe in me" than opposed to people who are rich, and don't have many daily struggles. These people claim god helped them succeed, but what about all of the people suffering that DO believe in "god" How come he lets a certain few have success, while others may not? God sounds bias. I have a hard time subscribing to what religion teaches.

I don't demand that my children grovel at my feet, fear me, or worship me to provide them with food, shelter, and love.

This God must be very insecure.

You need to do more than "get close to God"........
You need to awaken to the fact that You Are God.
In other words- your faith and beliefs about God mean NOTHING.
There is a HUGE difference between "believing" in God- and KNOWING You Are God.
Unless it is the most obvious fact you know- all you are is a sheep bleeting and babbling with all the others.
And we know what happens to all good sheep.
BAAAAAAA.

This is the worst survival advice in human history. Does your supposed god save the people that die everyday from survival issues like starvation and dehydration? No. If something were to happen and people relied on "God", they're going to die, but that's natural selection at work so who am I to interfere.

I will keep my faith in my preps, skills and knowledge instead of an imaginary being.

If your 1000 miles from home you have enough gear with you to make it back home on foot if need be...
If you leave your bug out bag in the burger king bathroom then your an idiot and deserve to die....
If you can't find your BOB during an emergency then you haven't prepared properly or trained yourself...

You need both!

Like when Joseph stored 7 years worth of grain. God by no means expects us to sit back like dumb bunnies and think that everythig will be OK.

I disagreee with Mormon doctrine. I think it's a cult. But they have one thing right: be prepared. Like the Boy Scouts I guess.

So, I have both. God and supplies. If things go south, and I firmly believe they will, sooner rather than later, I'm as ready as I can be without being nuttier than a fruitcake. Food (good food, not a bunch of canned stuff), weapons, meds, medical knowledge (I'm an RN), energy and shelter.

Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

A big flood comes in and a man is left floating in an expanse of water...

Someone swims past and says grab my arm and I will pull you in.

No.. says the man. I have faith in God.

Later a boat comes past... Quick jump in.

The man replies.. No thanks. I have faith in God.

Lastly a helicopter passes... and drops a ladder down.

The man refuses to grab the ladder.. No..I have faith in God. He will save me.

Later the man drowns and finds himself in heaven. With God standing in front of him.

God he says.. I dont understand. I had faith in you but you never saved me.

God replies. I sent you a swimmer, a boat and a helicopter. What more did you want...
