I can speculate a bit for you. Just suppose that we had said super high tech. antigravity/free energy stuff, but releasing that to the public would
allow Joe Smith to assemble a nuclear bomb in his back yard, and provide him with an anti-gravity delivery system.
Do you think we would have a stable society in such a situation, with our moral constraints being tossed out the window? Post-christian modernism
is inconsistent with the responsibility that the next generation technology entails. That's one reason why this world is slated for the trash heap.
