Once upon a time...

In this day & age, it was hard to believe the American way...
Blinded by illusion of democracy, still yet to comprehend the absurdity...
Of ideals peddled according to theme, red & blue determined the teams...
Time & again new puppet pilot was arranged, but the serfs failed to realise their flight path never changed... until one day they found themselves hopelessly enslaved.

The End.

You're not even from the U.S. and you're writing about the illusion of democracy. If you're apart of the commonwealth I'm done with this thread. talk about hypocrisy.

To be fair to Americans, right/freedoms tend to come and go.. I can think of quite a few times here where rights have been taken away followed by a long fight to reclaim those lost rights...

On the plus side they do have great documents to always come back to and use as a template to put things right and try again

Unfurled, flying free, the red while and blue,
born from blood of many for today's peaceful few,
of immigrants worldwide-aryans, indians and even jews,
We hold that flag today for free generations future, in leiu.

Men are flawed, mistakes made, many rue,
yet democracy triumph always, corrections willed,
creating changes, and hope forever new,
shackles unlocked as realities reveal

United as one, with bright cheerful hues,
fearlessly we march, progress our fuel,
as fresh as each morning's cool calm dew,
upon the shimmering flag of red, white and blue
