I certainly think that there are questions that need to be answered but come on hidden tapes and emails!? Gingrich saying somebody told him that something "may" have happened. This is just crap.

Well it's obvious that the emails will be hidden just based on the simple fact that I am sure there was some sensitive or semi sensitive things included in them. If the tapes do in fact materialize then what? I think that this whole thing was handled from the word go with a level of incompetence that is just completely unacceptable. Someone is responsible and until all of the information is brought forward proving otherwise there is only one person that had final say and I think we all know who that is.

Thank you Grey. I think that it is going to be difficult for people to be neutral here. For those relying of Fox News, John Bolton (The one who was instrumental in outing Valerie Plame), Newt Gingrich, and the like.

There were some major missteps by this administration. They lied in the beginning and that just screwed them and allowed this whole situation to get way out of hand and controlled by right wing news outfits, pundits, mouth-pieces et al.

If you are to believe this story now coming out it does appear that they did all that they could with what they had. When they were first notified at the annex they tried to get assistance from local militia. There is a question as to why their security was not reinforced prior to the attack. But clearly, that was the State Department's responsibility.

I think that the question that needs to be answered is: Why wasn't security beefed up prior to the attack? I have always had the thought in my mind that this was a "hit" by some faction within our government. A lot of people escaped and got away. Seems these people knew exactly who they were looking for and found him.

According to the new timeline the annex received a call at 9:40 p.m. local time that the consulate was coming under attack. A team of six CIA security operatives left the annex for the mission within 25 minutes of that call.

Over the next 25 minutes the security team approached the compound and attempted to secure heavy weapons. They encountered heavy enemy fire when they entered the consulate compound to locate Stevens and the other Americans who were there at the time of the attack.

At 11:11 p.m., an unarmed U.S. military surveillance drone arrived over the compound. U.S. officials have told ABC News that the drone had been redirected to Benghazi from an ongoing mission elsewhere in Libya.

By 11:30pm, all of the Americans, with the exception of the missing Stevens, had left the compound in vehicles that immediately came under fire.

The annex itself came under sporadic small arms and RPG fire for the next 90 minutes before the attackers eventually dispersed.

At around 1 a.m. an additional CIA team of about six security officers from the embassy in Tripoli had arrived at Benghazi. U.S. officials have acknowledged that the embassy in Tripoli had chartered an aircraft to take the team to Benghazi. The official disclosed the new detail that two U.S. military officers were part of the team that flew in from Tripoli.

Upon learning that the situation at the annex had calmed down, the team that came in from Tripoli initially wanted to focus their attention on locating Stevens, who had been taken to a local hospital.

When the team finally managed to secure transportation and an armed escort into Benghazi, they learned that Stevens “was almost certainly dead and that the security situation at the hospital was uncertain.” At that point they headed to the annex to help evacuate the Americans located there .

They arrived at the annex at 5:15 a.m., just before mortar rounds begin to hit the complex. The attack killed two security officers, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, who were located on the annex’s roof. Doherty had been part of the security team that had flown in from Tripoli. The new attack on the annex lasted only 11 minutes.

Less than an hour later everyone at the annex was evacuated with the help of ”a heavily armed Libyan military unit. “

I still think there was some sabotage here but not by the Administration but I'd also like to say that this all being CIA...something shady probably was going down there from the start of the 'diplomatic' mission. Obama and his administration are far too smart to fumble as badly the Right tried to paint.

Please, Novak reported what was leaked to him by a senior administration official originally. That was Karl Rove who is a political operative NOT a member of the CIA or the State Department which are the ONLY ones who would have had that information. This was a coordinated attack by the White House on Joseph Wilson. Unfortunately we will NEVER know who was the original source of the leak as Prosecutor Fitzgerald had "sand thrown in his eyes", by the perjury and obstruction of justice.

I guess we agree more than disagree, firstly these are not CIA officers, they are CIA employees or contractors as both former seals were contractors hired to provide protection and clandestine actions in our search to locate shoulder fired missiles that had gone missing during the Libya revolution or overthrow which ever you prefer.

Having been employeed by this agaency in the past and other such as Black Water it normal for the US to do business this way. I spent several years in South America, Somilia and Thailand working for 1 group or another.

I can tell you with all honesty and with first hand knowledge that no military commander would allow an attack to take place on his watch without a rescue/response unless, the rescue/response would be met with such an overwhelming response that it would compound the rescue attempt and an unacceptable levels of loss of troops, OR they received an order to stand down by senior command officals. I believe based upon the facts as we know them currently is they were told to stand down, the enemy threat was minor and a squad of new recruits from the marines or the army could have controlled that situation.

Why stand down, I am not a conspiracy nut but, I have seen many many things in my years of service, I have read here that perhaps the ambassador was a front for some type of gun/arms deal?

Based upon my personal experince and being both a former Ranger and Seal, I can tell you that nobody would be left to die, defenseless. I can speak of my experinces during the now famous BlackHawk down incident where we at all costs went an retrieved every individual dead or alive.

This sickens me personally and as much as I dislike Obama he is not entirely to blame, the question is why? Why did my brothers in arms be left to die when help was so close???? It stinks and whomever is responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extenet of the law.

Obama made a big deal above killing Bin Laden and praised seal team 6, he left 2 to die on a roof top of some sh!thole 3rd world sewer and for what!!!!!!! That is the question.

Please, for the love of everything that is holy, don't tell me that my fellow countrymen are going to buy this story that took 7 weeks (and countless prior versions) to finally cook and serve up to us?

Two conflicting stories one from FOX and one from the CIA.

Honestly I do not know which one has been proven to lie more.
