Back on topic though, the release of this film defies common sense. It's a political move that will cause him or Romney all sorts of problems.

If people riot because of a rumor that a Koran was shredded, I think this will touch off another round of violence.

I don't think that releasing that video for political purposes would be a good idea.

They buried OBL at sea so he wouldn't be made into a martyr. Although we are very, very happy that OBL was "brought to justice", now that it has been done, I don't think that releasing the video would be a good idea. Yeah, it would show that he really was killed and take the air out of those who say he wasn't, it would put one headache to bed, but it would open up so many more.

I agree with the OP that it WILL create riots and possibly cause the deaths of innocent people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's in extremely poor taste to release the video "for the world to see" due to the danger it would cause for innocent people.

On the other side of the coin, it would allow some people to get closure from the 9/11 bombings, it would take care of those saying he wasn't really killed, it would show others who may be planning violence against our nation what the result will be.... but, is that worth risking more lives of innocent people for a political bump?

So, I see the Obama lover machine folks are set to release the "official" story of the OBL killing- TWO DAYS before the election-to help prop up the fake house of cards. Which we also know now is a complete crock of ....!

I don't think they believe that, or actually care as long as they entice more people to vote for Obama...at all costs. I never believed a "video" caused the recent attacks and deaths of four Americans, however this "story" probably will "fan the flame."

I think carrying through with this may lose him more votes than it gains. Those who are democrats and are backing him because he is the democratic candidate are not like their political opponents. They subscribe to reason and intention as opposed to blindly following a party (I'm sure there are people on the other side who would disagree, but that's my opinion of it and where I stand). If he releases that video and it causes the death of innocent people or is even connected in some way to the death of innocent people, there are many democrats who will abandon him.
I'm not choosing to vote for Obama because he's my favorite candidate, I'm choosing to vote for him because he's the one I dislike the least. ...that's a shame, I know, but that's how it is. He could quickly escalate up the "dislike" scale over something like this and lose my vote.

My vote probably won't go to Romney as a result due to his VP pick (I can't bear another Dan Quayle, although Biden is quite close), but it could easily go to a third party, and my end up going to a third party by election day anyway since I'm not an all-out Obama supporter, I support him as the respresentative of the Democratic Party but hate the way he treated Hillary in the primaries last time. I very much support her and look forward to her running in 2016.

....and just to be clear, Romney being Mormon is one of the few things I actually like about him (I have many Mormon family members) and Obama being the first black president is one of the things I actually like about him. I realize that's opposite what many feel, but that's what I feel. Most republicans who hate Romney hate him because he's a Mormon and many people who hate Obama hate him because he's black, racism is still very much alive unfortunately. I realize there are many with other reasons, but those are the deep ones that nobody will mention due to societal pressures.

I don't consider Obama a "true" Democrat, He reeks of socialism, as do many of his "democratic" backers.

You are welcome to that opinion, mine, however, disagrees with yours.
There are no real "socialists" today, they just don't exist. If they did, they would probably get a great deal of support from both sides as long as they didn't utter what's considered a "dirty word" (socialism)

No idea where you get your info from, but after they took out Bin Ladens son, who got a few shots off, Bin Laden stuck his head out of the doorway as someone holding a rifle would before they opened fire. The lead SEAL got off a shot which ended up being the fatal headshot. After securing the room and getting the women and children out of the way, they put a few more in his chest. If Bin Laden had indeed been cowering behind the women, he would have been taken alive. Instead, the women were bent over his already dead body.

Funnily enough, I saw the previews for the UBL video tonight and was wondering this very thing. I mulled the idea of turning it into an article for my blog. When I got on ATS and saw this thread along with the objections to the position taken in the OP, I realized there was some much needed background to flesh out the idea. 1) the veracity of the raid story and 2) what Al Qaeda said about dishonoring Bin Laden.

Here's the thing, the administration CANNOT logically garner a defense against any violence which may occur from this film's release.

Google is showing the wide release date as Dec. 19th...which is two days before the Apocalypse, not the general election

On another note, if the Obama administration were to try to restrict the release of ANY video about ANY topic, any real American would cry censorship.



On yet another note, The Hurt Locker (also directed by Kathryn Bigelow) was incredible so I'm looking forward to seeing this
