A lot of people, and mostly those in the left, but also many people from all political afiliations do not know, or understand that "democracy" is nothing but "mob rule", or "a dictatorship of the proletariat", when in reality the mayority of the people in these socialist/communist countries do not accept, or agree with the socialist/communist goals of said countries. Instead the socialists/communists/chavistas, who are NEVER a mayority, have to resort to dirty tactics, corruption to the highest level, intimidation, scare tactics and using many other sorts of dirty tactics which includes forcing people to accept their dellusional, and authoritarian ideas on socialism/communism.

Somehow, I am not at all surprised at this outcome. I imagine Putin will be winning elections for the next 20 years as well.

It all boils down to, there is no need for the farce of elections in places such as this, where they can make people disappear who disagree with them. The same people will keep winning and winning and winning and winning again.

Thank God for two term presidents here in the States.

Surely, 46% of the population don't love him as they wanted the other guy. Kim Jong-un of the pleasant land North Korea gets a 100% "we love you" from the down-trodden population every time he casts a vote.

Hugo Chávez has an ego the size of a large village and is only liked by some because he's anti-US, but the elections seem to have been judged as fair. Some dislike Chávez because he has manipulated the "system" to prolong his power, such as re-writing the constitution.

Sure, there's still a large portion of the nation that are capitalistas, that want to re-oppress the people that Chavez has freed to elevate themselves, exploitation is the best way for the few to make billions... it's too bad it has a nasty side effect of starving millions.

It's not a question of good or bad but of national independence and selling oil more cheaply to China and Russia is a way of buying their protection, against direct US action, in the UN/Security council. You may call Chavez many things but he knows that the US kills presidents and invades countries when it suits their geopolitical ( which is mostly about maintaining the social structures that allows for a effective defense of capitalist wealth accumulation) aim and thus understands that while he may be buying help it beats once again selling out the future of Venezuela to the west. Even if it turns out that the Chinese/Russians are the same harsh masters that Washington is at least neither of those countries have a dozen or so carrier task groups which will enable them to by conventional means lay waste to what makes a county a modern industrial society.

'Banking' or bankers can't be inherently evil as we know that even in many corporate capitalist friendly countries the banking system functions in such a way that the average client is not cheated by his local banker, which is often very well regulated and inspected, but instead by the political class who instigate/allow the bailouts of this or that ground.

As for the milk or coffee getting i live in just another capitalist not so perfect country where getting those might result in you getting killed but you do not see me blaming the violence on the utterly unconvincing efforts of the the South-African governments to create a more fair an equitable economic conditions. Fact is it seems that Venezuela might be a even more violent country ( per capita) than South-Africa so understanding the racist history of my own country i can only wonder at how badly the Spanish/European segment of Venezuelan society treated the ethic/people of mixed descent:

So without having done any research( sometimes experience may suffice) worth calling such i would suggest that the violence is not about economics or politics but about the social order of things with 'whites' hating Chavez for taking away so many of their state protected benefits and privileges and largely shifting those resources to the poorer segment of that country. The voting results seems to narrowly track the demographics and while that is not science i would strongly suggest that it's no coincidence either.

Yes, we have some 'poor' whites, but mostly just all whites ( who fail to understand the irony in now being treated less preferentially than they used to be) , in South-Africa too that hate the new non-white government for forcing them to compete in a job sector that now favors the employment of formerly disadvantage ethic groups/women.

Fact is if you speak English and can pass yourself off of being of mostly European descent your prejudices would probably help you to fit right in here but if you look a bit 'ethnic' odds are you will have to suffer the humiliating fate of being treated as the second class citizen; something i would hazard that you have no experience of so perhaps a good lesson in humility then.

But maybe you are just a misguided ethnic up and going places capitalist in which case you really should stop whining as you should know better than believing that the world is a fair having long ago accepted that as a capitalist you are completely responsible for your fate and that if you are struggling you just need to pull harder on those boot straps of yours.

Thos epeople have starved since ages, since the fourth republic (what they call before Chavez)

They have always had very little to eat, always being surrounded by guns, mafias, etc. They have always had zinc roof on top of them.

The difference is that now they get one piece of bread every now and then. They get Mision Ribas where they can get a High School degree in 8 months.

They are very shallow and unreliable solutions, it wont make them better citizens, it wont make their life better. BUT IN THEIR EYES, it is a big change.

How does that work? Not sure where you live, but I don't live in a "two state dictatorship". I may not like some of the things elected officials do, but they can and are often voted out when they don't deliver.
