Today I listened to one of our local radio broadcast about business. And the topic about the new Apple IPhone 5 had their own Maps instead of the Google maps.

Now one listener said that he noticed that where Google maps blurred or erased secret areas, Apple maps had full detailed maps of the restricted areas.

Now I can't confirm this because I don't have the IPhone 5 but can anybody else confirm this?

Is it exclusively the IPhone5 or is the Apple mapping app tied into the new operating system?

That's pretty cool. I'll let someone else buy that iPhone so they can share what they find.

In the meantime, I will keep my cell phone with large buttons made of rubber.

That would be awesome if they some how released a non edited
version of our planet .
Every satellite image we the public see has already been
"cleaned up" by our military. It kinda sucks we don't have a
Pub Sat, that could have an unrestricted view.
Never gonna happen though.

It's Apple's new map system, it took over for Google Maps, I just need to know a place to search and I will look, but I don't have a handy list of military bases and such!

My only real complaint about the 5 is the horrible maps.

If you go to Google maps and type Den helder thats in the Netherlands you find a blurred marine base but in the new apple maps you can see the base

I used the Apple maps to find Den Helder, it comes up blur free but the Apple maps doesn't have satellite imaging so you aren't seeing anything other than some additional streets

Any others to search?

The mapping app is part of the operating system upgrade for IPhones,,, I'm not sure how to do a screen shot of my phone to show you but it basically looks like google maps when the satellite imaging is turned off.

Is that the right Den Helder? When I did it on my I phone I got the same layout as the previous poster's Google did....but yours looks very different. Also is there a way to turn the satellite feature on with the Apple maps...I know you said you were on an IPad but maybe it's something I can turn on for my phone?

Look around this general area and see if it is updated compared to google maps/earth:
36.879355,-115.936909
&
35.890093,-117.671214

Pretty suspicious.
