I think that is just a live link for when the rock fly's overhead? Not a video as such.....might be wrong.

So where is the footage people ?

Not one link really shows this thing happening.

1 link is people talking.........the other is static pictures......that update every 5 seconds or so.

So let me get this clear ? Are we NOT going to be able to actually see it live ? or will there be footage and not pictures ?

Nobody is really making an effort to specify or clear this up.

I don't care about guys talking on skype for an hours...I just want the footage....that is why we all clicked on the link.

Don't expect to see much. It will appear similar to a satellite. A dim light moving across the star field.

How can I see if I don't know where or when to look ?

That is the question. The links say " Live asteroid fly by " .....but I don't see video or anything....the links don't show S***.

I love this kind of stuff and would like to see it with my own eyes if possible, if not then a good video.

I think people maybe just wanted us to listen to their online talk show.

I feel like I've wasted time.

This just cracks me up, even though it's not a laughing matter...but what else can you do?

2nd NEO in 60 days, that just came out of no where and one exploded on Jupiter the other day.

Still think NASA can protect us or give us warning....not me.

Everyone always says "there are soooooo many people with telescopes, if something was coming at us we would know"

Ha, yeah right!

Tune into Slooh, they are setting up right now, scroll down the page, you will hear them talking.

Might start a little late.

So true. there seems to be an ongoing theme over the past God knows how long with these NEO objects coming real close. I'm going to look around and see if I can find any information relating to Discovery vs Arrival?

Just for reference..it is supposedly coming 0.04 au of Earth,

that is about 5 983 920 kilometers or

3,718,240 miles and traveling at 30,000 miles an hour......our atmosphere would NOT slow it down at this speed.

It is the size of a 14 story building, SLOOH scientists say if it were to hit it could destroy a city.

Good times!

The moon is 238,900 miles away, fyi.

Interesting, we are traveling around the sun at thirty six times the speed of a bullet. Then we are traveling at between six to eight hundred miles per hour as as the earth spins in America. Seems like we are spinning our wheels and going nowhere in this solar system.

Good thread, I liked the video.
