It's loud but i can fix that. The technology works!

It would be an ugly Imperial Walker but it would be easy to knock out.

A battery version could walk around Mars.

Question: Does this dog run on Unix OS?

It's Petman that scares me. One of Boston Dynamics other projects. Imagine this kicking in your door at 3 in the morning.

i remember seeing videos of this things predecessor and if this is anything like it they are actually very stable

also you cant just scale things up and have them work the same way
giant versions serve no real purpose and would not be able to traverse many types of terrain because the ground is not stable or hard enough to support them

I wouldn't mind having that robot tote my dive gear & tanks to some of the remote springs I dive in. I think it is pretty amazing. Just imaging what we will have twenty years from now.

I could do it.

Use lightweight polyalloys.

You give up too quickly.

For every problem there is a solution.

George Lucas should have a few of these walking around Skywalker Ranch.

The mobile power system appears to be a problem.

Hydrogen Fuel Cells ?

This technology is advancing fast.

A few days ago BostonDynamics broke the speed record for robots

Cheetah Robot runs 28 mph (45 km/h) ; a bit faster than Fastest Human (Usain Bolt)

Wonder how long until we start seeing it in active duty.

Namaste

do it then i would really like to see it regardless of the fact that it would serve almost no purpose
so where did you go to school for engineering btw?

be sure to post your progress reports so we can see how your doing with your little project

That balance test video where it's kicked around creeped me out. Those "reflexes" it has to balance itself seem so life like.

s &f, very cool. i will admit, as it stands, pet man would def be scarier kicking down my door.

unless you gave the dog teeth... id be pretty interested to see where this tech does go though.

Didn't i see a few pet man droids attack about 20 Jedi in the movie

- Attack of the Clones : Episode II -?

The mobile power supply appears to be a problem.

New and improved Lithium batteries?

It just has a gyro in it.

Think like the segway solution by Dean Kamen.

If it has gyros I'm down I love those things, delicious
Not sure how that helps it balance though

What we see here must in some ways be similar to the tanks and planes we saw in WWI.

petman, millions or billions of dollars spent to "test wear and tear on uniforms..."

uh huh... no military applications eh boston dynamics?

scary as f... give it a gun and a remote operator and you have a drone for regular warfare.
add to that some of the patents for cold fusion from the US navy, or some other form of power source.

*shudders*

skynet lives!

Hehe, that dog thing is the most clumsy/ridiculous robot I've seen in awhile. I can see how it would be useful as a pack mule, or robotic dog shield.

A hail of 12. gauge slugs would stop pet man in his tracks at 3 a.m. or whatever else time

Have you seen the video of the guy kickin' the s**t outta the DARPA dog?..That one is far from clumsy..The thing scrambles it's legs like a organic life form would to regain it's balance..Needless to say he can't kick it over
