What is so great about Ron Paul? Explain to me why he should be president.

Who really knows? I hope your wrong. I may be blinded by hope (again!) but I think he didn't call out the RNC because of how the media would use/spin that to call him a crazy conspiracy theorist. Just like he didn't make too much of a deal about the voter fruad against him.

Yes they should, they are the morons electing a liar to speak for them. All his whining about how the Federal Government shouldn't be doing of the sort yet puts his hand in the cookie jar. He doesn't believe in any of what he says he does, he uses it to get dumb kids that don't know any better to vote for him. Dissembling, misrepresentation, or simple misunderstanding on your part - I'm not sure which. There is no dishonesty in recovering what bit of stolen funds you can, and this is infinitely better than letting them be re-stolen yet again and lost for good.

A fraud? Sure, one that's been right about most of the major issues we're dealing with today and warned us - on the record - about their fallout years before it occurred. A fraud who has been consistent over the span of 3 decades or more, verifiably so.

Call out the RNC? What, and be offered up on the sacrificial altar of US mainstream media-viewer stupidity and "sore-loser" accusations? When has the truth mattered or been accurately reported on in this country in living memory?

OP, long story short for me, Paul is consistent in being frank, honest, and advocating a return to the ideals and actions that made this nation great in the first place and putting an end to the things that have taken us downhill from there since.

One of his biggest goals is to shrink the federal government back to its proper size and scope (as Jefferson said, "In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."), returning the bulk of decision making and policies to the states and the people.

Limiting our foreign policy to its original reasonable non-interventionist foreign policy (as Adams said regarding America, "Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be. But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.")

Despite what some would say, NOT having an isolationist foreign policy, and instead being open and friendly with other nations, but not getting caught up in the mix with them (again, as Jefferson said, "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none").

Basically, get out of everyone's business - the rest of the world's, ours, etc. Stop wasting money and running up debt on wasteful and insane policies. Stop antagonizing and locking everyone up. Let people decide what they want to do with and for themselves and with their own lives.

Then the states have their own form and function in their constitutions, statutes and by-laws from the sublime to the ridiculous, some of the same only different. Where, does ever, that allow for people to decide what do with their own lives, with their own relative social graces. In fact, I have never seen any government, anywhere not taking advantage of their power over people, even more so, those that voted for them.

In short, the constitution (federal) itself imposes no limits on the people - it only restricts the government in scope and authority, and specifies a fairly small number of responsibilities and actions it is permitted or required to handle in certain ways.

Beyond that, as addressed in the 9th & 10th amendments, everything else is left up to (respectively) the states, and the people. Ultimately (and sadly, given our apathy and lack of involvement), the people are responsible for a) getting involved in their state-level governments to see that it legislates and acts accordingly, and b) if not directly involved by participating in state government, actively coordinating with other citizens of the state to enact change as the people actually see fit by putting pressure on their state governments, or electing them out of office, etc., and replacing them with those who will represent them accordingly.

Granted, as allowed, people and interest groups will definitely take advantage - but this does not necessarily indicate a flaw with the founding documents or mode of government itself. It merely highlights the deficiency in the people of being willing to actually pay the necessary attention to and police those who insert themselves into such positions of authority.

And this highlights why I love Ron Paul. He does not take such advantage, he respects these founding doctrines, and special interest groups don't even bother sending lobbyists his way by an account we can find, since he actually honors his oath as compared to his back account.

He MAY have, im not too sure how many but we still have many many troops there. He has also invaded quite a few countries too. He only want's to expand the war (Mitt too) and drive our debt past the moon so we are forced to enter the New World Order with the rest of the world.

The only way to deny ignorance is to do your own homework.

If you want to be sold on a presidential candidate, turn on the tv. But once you do that, don't come back to ATS with your new found way of life.

If you want to find out about Ron Paul, try visiting his official campaign site www.ronpaul2012.com if you like him, buy some bumper stickers and other accessories before its too late since the campaign is winding down.

Nobody should tell you how great any politician is. You should actually research each individual platform and make your own decisions about who is the best candidate for you.

Maybe that doesn't actually mean he's psychic, but just understands things well enough to see where we're headed and what we actually should do if we want to end up where we'd LIKE to...and I think we should listen.

A more accurate take might be: Ron Paul is a voluntaryist that took an oath to protect the Constitution.
