For all you FOX lovers, you may have the news yesterday that FOX News outed the anonymous author of the upcoming book about the Seal Team 6 raid that took out Osama Bin Laden. Not only did they name him, they also gave his city's name in Alaska where he lives. Now terrorist websites have photos up on him and have publicly stated they are going to hunt him and kill him now that they know what he looks like, what his name is and where he lives.
NBC article - Al Qaeda Threat

"Here is the first picture of the dog who murdered the martyr Shaykh Usama Bin Laden," wrote one of the posters, using an alternate spelling of bin Laden's name. "May Allah have mercy on him."

Nice job FOX, supposed champion of the military. I expected better judgment even from them.

I would assume that some in the government or associated with it are displeased with news of this book for some reason, and FOX (among others) is just a mouthpiece of the government, et al., to be used as needed.

How did he get outed exactly, anyway - he was originally anonymous, so how could he be ID'd so quickly?

They want him dead. Simple as that, IMO.

What the news media FOX did was deplorable. But, you really can't expect to write a book on such a controversial subject as he did, and still remain anonymous.

I feel sorry for him and his family. I do pray they stay out of harm's way.

FOX is many things, but a mouthpiece for the Obama administration they are most certainly not. Most likely other news outlets know the authors name too, but had the sense not to publish it.

I feel sorry for him

He deserves no sympathy. He took a fictionous story and added his spin to it - for financial gain.

Book is an absolute lie according to many. This means for me that its not even worth considering as factual. It appears to many that the book was probably written by the government and not the individual im question.

I take anything beig promoted by the government and MSM as complete bull anyways. I will never again believe anything my government or any other untill we get rids of the criminal bankers and the current politicians.

Not one politician in Parliament or Congress has the balls to say 9/11 meeds re-investigation, this means nkne of them should be in power and all of them are guilty.

Unbelievable.

It reminds me when Giraldo was punished for drawing out maps in the sand of Iraq showing everyone in the world where the US troops were at and where they were going. At one point there were 4 men wanted out of Iraq; Saddam, his 2 sons, and Giraldo.

And to think they are so good at pushing agendas but so bad at catching this stuff.

They definitely don't play to the left, I'll agree with that much - regardless, those in and related to the government I refer to are above and beyond the presidency itself. Despite the changes in polarity, all too much in the government keeps moving one direction to certain apparent goals.

How many levels of security classification are there above what the president has access to...16 or so?

According to many ATS posters, doesn't Osama Bin Laden not exist/died years ago/was invented by the CIA?

Incidentally, a Pakistani I know told me he knows the area and the story doesn't add up. Every year the military hold a parade at the nearby base and clear the area out nearby, including Osama Bin Laden's compound.

It is suspicious that his body was buried at sea so quickly.

Set up? Planned? Faux News and the Gubment, teaming up to take down the bad guys. Throw out this info, see who responds and truly does show up at his door, and they have an instant "terrorist" trap? Gotcha!

Seems plausible to me. Thoughts? I mean, if OBL didn't die years ago, and the official narrative is accurate.

Tell me...how is this ANY different than what the Commander In Chief has done?

Two wrongs don't make a right, but, in context of things, the CIC is just as guilty by releasing details of the raid to Hollywood movie makers.

Isn't the CIC supposed to lead by example? How did you libbies give him a pass on this?

Disturbing.

Are you serious? This is not a book being promoted by the government. It is a book written by one of the Seals looking to cash in on the Bin Laden raid. Man, you people need to get better informed.

What is astounding to me is the number of posts that think even this book is some sort of government conspiracy...in collusion with FOX no less. My God, way too many people have lost the ability for any type of rational thinking.

If anything in the book is even remotely based on real events I doubt it would be published.

www.defense.gov...

Every former member of the military who had access classified (or unclassified for that matter) information is required to submit any manuscript for a book that incudes even a fictional story related to psuedo-militay operations to DoD for review and sanitization before publication. This is to make sure something isn't leaked.

If he didn't do that they could lock down the printing of his book and niether he nor the publisher can do a thing.

If he did do that I'm guessing there so much fantasy in the book that it doesn't even resemble the actual events.

When one is “read on” or given access to any program that is classified within DoD or the military you sign an agreement that binds you to this standard. You sign away first amendment free speech in the interest of national security. Not only is it the law it becomes a contract between you and the government.

I doubt there is anything real in that book -

What has this thread to do with Obama? You people are so riddled with hate you find it impossible to be critical of any group who dedicates itself to criticizing him, such as FOX News. Are you not capable of rendering an opinion on what FOX did or not?

I've been on ATS a long time by current membership standards, but I am finding this thread most illuminating out of any I've created. So far only one person has the rationality to say what FOX did was terrible. It's to the point where Sean Hannity or any other prominent Obama hater could shoot some ATS member's mother and they'd still defend them.

Neither the DoD or the CIA vetted this book. That's the normal process in order to publish. But this guy did it anonymously, bypassing the rules so the book could not be reviewed and combed to delete sensitive intel. That's why this author is now also in hot water legally.

I can't help but wonder what many here would be posting now if my title read, "MSNBC Guides Al Qaeda...."

Who wants to bet there would be 20 flags by now and grievous calls to condemn MSNBC?

I really don't understand why Fox News would publish the name. Did he refuse to appear on Fox and Friends or something? It's very odd. I just don't see what they gain from it.

1. why would this idiot write a book detailing the events of the raid in the first place? More Transparency from Team Obama...In the most dangerous way!

2. if Al Qaeda really cared about this dude, they would have found him eventually.

3. Fox News, many Americans, and myself included question the validity of the book (albeit the whole Osama thing) and the secrecy around the person who published it only adds to the mystery! Fox News is actually trying to get to the bottom of it. They are doing their job!

4. The dude should have hidden himself better, if he really cared about no publicity and no death threats. I don't think the dude really cares either way, some people just want to tell their story, regardless of consequences to themselves, or national security.
