Something is definitely up. They DID take down those Mars Curiosity thumbnails. Proof:

Don't forget the petrified poop of Marvin the Martian and the WW2 helmet that Private Ryan left behind.

That rock (the one that looks like a helmet) has a cool shape to it. I wonder how it got the rim to it or if it's just an optical illusion.

seriously?

Zeus poop out a cloud and there you are to tell us what is and isn't apart of what is and isn't reality?

Seriously?

How about you go type your bullcrap email to some ATS admin and start deleting accounts because... I bet there's some members here who aren't very happy due to your diligence, scumbag.

Chill out - things went off topic, and there was a spammer. The things that were deleted were not worth the posts - trust me. I think I even got some of mine deleted but moderation is necessary in come cases.

Respect the mods. They haven't closed this thread yet due to the circus that was going on.

I made a topic about the images on the NASA web site. I have discussed the actual OP with other posters no more than a few times - despite the number of replies in this thread.

So just chill, and let's get back to the real point - why were images not released when they could have been? Some people say it's because of server space (
) but of course I don't buy that.

See? I did it again! up there!

I see the finger. Noticed the drop in resolitons on NASA site, but noone has mentioned this. Clearly looks like a worm or something trying to fallow Curisotity.

Possibly, this is the answer. They may have noticed that the tires were flipping over some of the stones. If you go into any of the deserts such as the Mojave, nearly all the stones have a general patina of color that has been sort of burnt into them as they have laid out in the same position for the most part without being disturbed. So in other words, you might see a field of stones where all the rocks have the same color making them all look like the same kind of rock. When you flip over the rock, you see it's true color or backside. So perhaps they don't want viewers to be able to guess at the minerals or kinds of rock, or they don't want viewers, outside of themselves to see other signs of disturbance which might suggest rocks have been overturned by visitors other than us in the recent past. If folks saw an area where there were a lot of stones overturned where we have not been, it might suggest either some geological, astronomical, or animate beings were causing the fluctuation in the colors of stones, which should be for the most part uniform in a desert like area.

Sorry I did not mention the helmet...
Did you even look at the photo I posted towards the bottom
of page 15 ? The Square with a Hole? If you thought it wasn't
important that's ok...just seemed odd to me...

Cheers

It is a Penis (as seen from the under-side).

Agreed its clearly a Martian finger penis beast that has just assaulted curiosity. Ironically curiosity goes probing on a foreign land and gets probed back. Curiosity killed the cat

To be serious though, no one has a finger that fat at the base and skinny at the tips, same goes for your chap, and no one makes a statue with out of proportion fingers surely. In other words its just a rock that looks like a finger penis hybrid, a clear case of finger penis hybrid.

I don't know if anyone is after me.

I'm just saying weird things are happening and I'm documenting them in these threads.

Ok, I will try to re-simplify the OP.

In a nutshell, a few days ago I was at the NASA site where the images are.
There are two types of images - low resolution and high resolution.
As I got to the site, they were all low resolution images (thumbnails), but high resolution images (subframes) were being added every time I refreshed the page. So I started to download all of them starting at the bottom.
To make a long story short, I saw MANY (can't say 'all of them' with certainty) images go from low resolution, to high resolution, but then back to low resolution.

Images were removed. NASA and I released our panoramic on the same day. Ours are very similar, but mine is better for some reason. Better stitching together of the images, etc.

But ours BOTH have missing data. On mine, they are white areas. On theirs, they're black. Regardless:

Those images that are the missing data are not available anymore to download but Wikipedia has one of the low resolution images - but as a high resolution image - thus proving I was right and not lying.

Is that more clear? If not, ask away.

I get it, but have you considered that the amount of traffic they are getting could very well force them to move things around on their end until they find a more permanent solution to cope with the demand?

Besides I really doubt that if there was anything to cover up on any of the images being released they wouldn't release them to them remove them after a few minutes. That is just silly. They simply wouldn't release them. After all this isn't a first grade school science project with zero implications.

Also these images are probably arriving in some proprietary format with a better compression scheme than JPEG to ease the transmission, which would require someone to convert and upload these afterwards. And you can bet that given the size of the project, money spent and implications someone is inspecting every single pixel of every single image before publishing anything.

Or do you think that Curiosity is simply dumping these images in public domain on the internet directly from Mars without anyone supervising it, and both you and the NASA folks are seeing them at the same time for the first time?

Congrats on the panorama though. I hope you can get the remaining images to publish a more complete version of it.

That's where ultra conservative super man threw David's penis.
Issue #777, page 24 U.C. Superman says "This isn't art.. it's.. PORNOGRAAAA *throwing david's penis to mars* AAAAPHYY!!!"

No comic fans up on ATS?

I hate to say it but if anything is up there NASA has known about it for sometime and has probably already made contact/gathered samples/taken pictures, etc. I'm curious (no pun intended) to see some of the possible reasons they're covering something up,
