I haven't read every page yet so someone might have mentioned this, but I'm watching the breaking news on CNN (Don Lemon reporting) and they are really hammering home the issue already (though after every statement they remind us they don't really know anything) that it was only one shooter. Police are stating that it was one singular shooter. Eye witness reports keep referring to "shooters", "the shooters", so it seems we have a contradiction.

How come every time something like this happens, it makes no sense? They just had some FBI specialist (Christopher Voss?) on to talk about how there are reports of multiple shooters, saying that they get multiple reports from different people seeing the same shooter. Some how this explains how people are seeing multiple shooters? That is the police's job, to take that information given to them during the interviews, and corroborate the details. They should have know real quick what was going on, pertaining to the suspects and how many there were.

And there one suspect? Well he is dead. How convinient. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist. (Though I love entertaining the infinite possibilities of our reality) I really, really do. But this is the stuff right here that gets the question marks poppin' up over my head. The situation, combined with the media. It's insane. We live in an insane world.

So do we believe the police's official statements? Or listen to what the eyewitnesses say? I understand they were in the line of fire, in the middle of a situation that hurts your chances of really seeing what is going on around you. I think it is important to listen to what the people who were actually there are saying.

Guarantee this will be a crazy racist dude shootin' at Indians and thinking they are Arabs.

That's exactly what I was just thinking. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be such but admitting they don't know the motive and then claiming the motive is hate seems preemptive.

My heart goes out to the families, victims, and, and community. I hope we can handle this with decency and not politicize it like so many recent issues have been about race, religion, gun rights, etc.

I can only imagine the fear these people would have felt.

So it seems the shooter was targeting the priests?

That's what I think, and I don't think a foreign plot should be ruled out either.
It would be convenient to make it look like a lone shooter though, if it were. For the people doing it, and possibly for our government.

The intitial report said he was white, bald, and muscular. But white is a continuum too, isn't it? I could have black hair and shave my head and if I were fair, I would maybe look like a blond guy that shaved his head running away. Huh?

I am particularly glad to see the police have asked the media to NOT provide aerial news coverage because:

Several weeks ago, there was an incident that closed a US to Canadian bridgeway/tunnel and the aerial coverage was so close and specific that I could personally identify many errors the bomb squad and dog handler made. It's bad enough to make mistakes, worse yet to broadcast it to help the nutcases of this world to commit atrocities.

That's not the only bright spot I see in this story so far.

People may learn that Sikhs are not Muslims, even though their turbans and unshaved faces may make them appear as such. So, it's a learning experience about yet another religion.

Other than those two bright spots, the rest is a bleak story.

My thoughts and prayers go out for the children in the basement.

Well I admit he might have been a crazy racist. But yeah they say we have no clue but it is a hate crime.

News flash all crimes of this sort involve hate. You have to hate people in some way to want to just go around shooting them regardless of who they are.

What got me though was how early on people brought up the shaved headed white guy so it must be racist.

Just for another aspect on the reporting

www.ustream.tv...

These guys are civilian journalists. Dont agree with all there views but its raw and unedited and generally unbiased.

Don't expect great footage (quality is not great) but its real. Think about checking out what these guys do outwith this incident.

from what i just gathered from interviews of the church goers... he shot some that were musicians, some that were priests, some just regular attendees. but everything is hearsay... we have zero details. and like most cases i bet the details the public does hear will be some jumbled and not real specific with plenty of theories and differing eye witness accounts giving contrasting observations, etc...

So they are calling it a hate crime even though they have no motive yet? How does that work exactly?

"We have no idea," he said of the motive. "It's pretty much a hate crime. It's not an insider."

Wow, nice to know they waited to understand before making a judgment call.

I really don't know what motivated a person to do such a heinous thing. I'm just like everyone else, in shock, and sad for the families of all those who were victims of a seemingly, to me at least, crazy man.

I'm sure there are those who will grab their flag of choice, and wave it high while loudly proclaiming, their ideas of why something so horrible happened. We'll just need to wait for the investigation that will follow, for *correct* information.

Not just emotional conjecture.

A little info on the Temple........

The Sikh Temple of WI was established on October 1, 1997. It started with 20-25 families and the Sangat gathered in the rental community halls in the south side of Milwaukee. In October 1999 Sikh Temple of WI was formally established in the 441 E Lincoln Ave, Milwaukee location. At this time there are 350-400 people in the congregation. The hall and parking lot have outgrown the needs of the Sangat and a new Gurudwara is being built in Oakcreek to better serve the needs of the growing community. Sikh Temple of WI bought 13 acres of land at 7502 S Howell Ave near the airport in Oakcreek. The construction of 17,500 sq feet Gurudwara is underway and is scheduled for completion by April 13th 2007. This beautiful brick building will have better facilities, library and educational area for children, play area and parking for 100 cars. It will also provide space for childcare of infants and small children. There will be instruction of reading, writing and speaking of Punjabi language. There will be accommodations for visiting ragi jatha from India and from around the country.

About Sikh Temple of Wisconsin

I checked the Calendar, to see if I could find a name of the Priest, but the Calendar is down, for some reason.....

Please do not take my post as coming at you. I am sorry if that is how it seemed. I was just linking your post to show where I got the information. The questions in general were for the media.

Again sorry if it seems I was coming at you.

No problem Sweet Pea...I didn't take it that way. But, I did take the opportunity to make my feelings on the situation known, as I'm sure racism will be one of those flags some people will be shouting under regarding this shooting.

We don't know anything yet. No reason to run in the wrong direction with conjecture. That's all I was saying.

We be just fine....
