Team Obama said in ’09 stimulus would have unemployment below 6% by 2012

More promises "Predictions" gone awry !!

Unemployment is 8.254%

What happened to all the stimulus bill money anyway ??

(Washington Examiner -- Aug 3, 2012)

Today’s news that the unemployment rate moved up to 8.3 percent is as good of a time as time as any to revisit the promises the then-incoming administration made in 2009 regarding the economic stimulus bill. Back then they said the stimulus would have unemployment below 6 percent by now.

Not only that but they claimed that the unemployment would be at that 6 percent level now even if the stimulus bill was not passed. That is, that they predicted the economy would recover to that level naturally. In short, the White Houses projections regarding stimulus and the economy were wildly off.

The report, entitled “The Job Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan,” was released on Jan. 9, 2009. It was put out by the office of the president-elect was written by economists Christina Romer and Jared Bernstein. Romer would become chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisers for President Obama. Bernstein was Vice President Biden’s chief economic advisor...[continues]

President Barack Obama said in February 2009 that his presidency would be "one-term proposition" if the economy did not recover in three years, giving him less than six months from today.

On July 3, 2008 -- the day before Independence Day -- Barack Obama said that adding $4 trillion in debt was irresponsible and "unpatriotic.

Obama: The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents - #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back -- $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That's irresponsible. It's unpatriotic.

In January 2009, President Obama engaged in an all out effort pass the massive boondoggle of a so-called stimulus. The Obama Administration made two promises: 1st - the stimulus would prevent the jobless rate from going over 8%; 2nd -- the stimulus would be used on "shovel-ready projects." So what happened? National unemployment peaked at 10.1% in October 2009 and remained at 10% or more for three months. It now stands at 9.1%. And those "shovel-ready" projects? Obama joked today "shovel-ready was not as shovel-ready as we expected."

First off...Does using the word "team" before Obama mean that Obama said it?

Is Romney a birther becasue Donald Trump is?....We can do that all day...or we can try for honesty?

Second...

Let's give Bush/Romney another term...see if we can have a repeat?

Good luck selling that.

Well of course Obama said all this......it's in the videos.

And of course it was easy to "create" jobs when unemployment was way above 10%.

Not easy when the rate is well below 5%.

Obama's problem now is answering for the 8.254% rate today.

Too many people are mad at him.

And he "over spoke" with the assumptions and promises.

He's in deep trouble because of the mouth.

I think many voters would in fact like to see another "Bush" rate of below 5%.

At least with a job, they can return to a normal life.

The assistance is too much like chicken feed for people who made $40,000 a year a few years ago !

Awww Xue...you are not a dull bulb....Pew Research put Obama at +10 Nationally and even Rasmussen after all of it's crazy math and bias was forced to end the week with Obama +2. The electoral math is just misery for Romney....Xue..you know Mittens will never get the chance to return us to the Bush era of looting the middle class....Americans hit bottom. they don't even have to like Obama, only understand what Romney is....and everytime he speaks or makes the mistake of sharing his policies or vision, Americans recoil.

The election is over..it was over the moment the GOP nominated Romney.

The last time Pres. Bush saw an unemployment rate at 5% was January 08...then in his last 12 months he led the greatest economic crisis we have seen since the great depression and the Unemployment rate doubled before he left office...and the USA saw the greatest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the upper eschelons of wall street that any nation has ever experienced in the history of the world.....think no one remembers 2008?

Why on earth would anyone elect someone that was a cheerleader for those policies?

No worries....you can get an early start on whoever the Dems nominate for 2016...Willard is over...

Your charts always crack me up...

Hmmm...why does your unemployment chart only show the month of October in each year???

Squint and you can even see it in the fineprint on your chart!

And your point ?

Oct is the fiscal year I think.

Here's a month by month with calendar year average.

My point is...that by only showing the single month of October of each year, rather than the full 12 months, your graph obfuscates the facts of unemplyment trends during the Bush adminsitration.

Bush administration...MONTHLY

Obama Administration monthly

Which trend/policy do your prefer???
