Ridiculous.

Well, according to the buddha, everybody suffers from delusion. However, mental illness is usually a severe form of delusion outside the statistical norms, by say, 2 or 3 standard deviations. So, by definition, most people have to be ok. Who decides what is illness and what is normal? It's all statistics. When everybody is crazy, crazy is normal. The otherwise normal person would then be considered mentally ill.

Are you a Mental Health Professional MentisCompis?
Just wondering. I'm in the MH profession and I'm wondering why you mentioned this in your introduction. Anyone (suffering or not suffering from Mental Illness) can see things wrong in the world.

Anyway, Welcome! I'm a new member as well. There are a lot of good people on ATS.

(btw, pretty avatar.

Pretty sure 2sd is 95th percentile & 3sd is 99th.

It means there's bs somewhere along the lines.

Nothing is scientific about mental illness.. as far as I'm concerned the most ill are.the one's who believe that.they can be fixed by "professional" strangers.

You must be out your mind not to seek council by your friends and relatives first.

I don't buy that.

You're one of the more stable long-time members here.

If you've been diagnosed with something serious, we're proly all doomed on ats

So do you think that in 1900 there were that many people with mental problems? If not, then technology hasn't really advanced the human condition as much as people think now has it?

We can go to the moon, but can't give food to a starving child in Africa. Pretty screwed up place we live in.

Technology has created an environment where we can kill ourselves many times over at the click of a button.

We have a lot of fancy gadgets, and cool cars, and expensive clothes. But we're all going wacko and everyone is hating on and killing each other.

I'd rather be without and have peace of mind, then have an overabundance and stress along with it.
