I've recently begun writing Zen poetry. I'm not particularly interested in publishing these, and not sure any publisher would take them, but I thought ATS would be a good place to share some of them since I know several members are interested in the subject of realization. So I will post some, and maybe post some more later. They are all short, honest, and were written spontaneously without a lot of revision.

SINGLE MIND

The mind meets itself
bewildered in the mirror
that it has revealed itself
to be itself

SIT AND SEE

Coincidences aside
Paradoxes aside
Sit still and see
Coincidences aside
Paradoxes aside.

SUBJECTIVITY 1

Gazing from a fish-eye
the world is a swirling globe.
To the rain drop
an oncoming inevitability.
And all is a passing ghost,
to the wind.

The self resides
in the eye of the storm?

KARMIC TIDES

I bobbed on hills and valleys
never realizing
I was floating free.
I bobbed on hills and valleys
never realizing
I was thee.

EGOS RISE

Egos rise
floating high on helium
until a crosswind reminds them
which direction
they go

RELATIVITY 1

A jig in any direction
leaves you in your shadow
and a lunge to the centre
is stepping aside.
It’s one of those things:
stillness resembles boredom
to those in constant movement.

A LUNATIC SET FREE

Effort piled up high
at last brings on the avalanche
A lifetime of learning in the labyrinth
pulverized in the final release

Look at that old lunatic
dancing free of the volcano dust
Where on earth will he go
with the mind of an unborn child?

I’VE MADE MY MIND AN ENEMY

I’ve made my mind an enemy
What am I to do?
Everything I think it does
leaves me feeling blue.
The problem is, of course
that disassociation has its source
where one thing
wishes it were almost two.

WELL, WELL, WELL

Well, well, well
we meet again
again and then again.
What kind of great simplicity
is all this?

TREE TALK 2

A timeless high note
held between your branches
divides you into the sky
where your leaves
skim wind and sun
to earth
for my instruction.

#TING ZEN

That old guy, he shat when he had to
and got off the pot when he was done.
He was an instrument of Zen.

DREAMING ON THE TIGHTROPE

Having figured out
the past
we prognosticate
the future.
What an amazing
trick it is
this dreaming
on the tightrope.

WHEN THE RIGHT TONE IS STRUCK

When the right tone is struck
the ocean is stilled
and the stone
shattered

 ***MOD EDIT***
Not an Introduction Thread
*Closing Thread*

The Introduction Forum is for introductions To tell something about you; not to start a thread about a topic.“Intro threads” that are really “topic threads” will be removed.
Welcome to ATS, it’s time to introduce yourself.

You have posted what could be a very interesting topic in the "Introductions thread". This area is solely for introducing yourself (as you can see by browsing through other Introduction threads by new members). We apologize for this inconvenience, but its a necessity for a website as large as ours. After you have managed to get 20 posts under your belt, you can then start your own threads in their appropriate areas.

Strict code's like this are in place to help keep the machine 'running smoothly'. One of these policies is that members need to post their thoughts in the appropriate areas. I'm sure you'll understand the necessity for us having rules like this. It helps keep all the great threads and topics in their perspective areas of interest and not all lumped together, making it difficult to find when wanting to make additional comments.

With that said, I'm going to have to close this thread as it does not comply with the above stated rules. After you have managed to get 20 posts under your belt, start your own thread in one of the appropriate areas as we'd love to hear more on this subject you originally posted.

Thread closed, you can contact me by a private message for more information if needed after you have read the links provided above and in the final post below. Or you can also contact staff by alerting them here Complaints and Suggestions

I enjoyed reading your poems. Tree Talk 2 spoke most pointedly to me. The universe is made for us.
