The perils of debunking the hoax of 2012

So what do you think about this psychic nun and the idea that attempting to debunk a hoax sometimes leads to the debunker being labeled the source of the mistsaken idea? I looked at the thread you advertised and it did not seemt o have anything at all to do with this topic, does it?

Like someone else alluded to earlier, it's a shame the scientific method has largely been ignored when it comes to theories revolving around UFOs, aliens, or planet X or whatever. It shouldn't be the debunkers job to debunk a wild, baseless idea that was founded on a single observation or "feeling." The burden of proof is carried by the person who presents said outlandish idea. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
