USS Enterprise possibly under attack [updated]

There was speculation on this site a while back that the U.S.S Enterprise might possibly be attacked in the Gulf and such an attack on an iconic named vessel would arouse the ire and sympathy of the American public.

Furthermore that such an attack would infact be orchestrated or allowed to happen so as to facilitate a war with Iran or Syria.

I'll wait for more info on this. But to be honest I'm pretty sure if a carrier was under attack nobody would have chance to just stand around and tweet about it.

Yep, many people expected as much. The Enterprise is iconic, and having it attacked on its last voyage would be galvanizing for the population toward whatever action they decide to advertise.

Thanks! I knew you would have the pertinent info. This seems to precise to be a hoax, but too vague to be credible. I have a feeling it at least has an element of truth. Perhaps an accident on board or some other event that could have been misconstrued? Or perhaps an ongoing attack with total press blackout?

Get a clue here. The Enterprise is off Bahrain. It CELEBRATED the Battle of Midway a couple of days ago. The whole Navy did as it was a crucial WW II victory. Lots of PR events and Admirals talking smack. That's all.

Ohk, yea that's true... but was your shipmate dead? It's always bad dissemination of information that turned in to a rumor that was much worse that what really happened If WW3 was happening now it would be all over MSM and alternative not on ATS first hand by the OP. If you are prior or current military then you know how something small snowballs when only a little info comes out.. peoples imagination goes into creative mode and act like.. well everyone here trying to find info on something that just plain didn't happen By all means though happy searching to all whatever makes everyone on ATS happy I guess

The small picture and article to the right top of the page in fact says that is took place in the Arabian Gulf.

Just because she (the carrier) was commemorating Midway, does not mean she was physically at that point in the Pacific Ocean.

The CNN source states that she is/was near...

It will be deployed in the Navy's Sixth Fleet and Fifth Fleet areas of operations, which cover Europe, Africa and the Middle East, including current hot spots Iran and Syria.

The CURRENT implication here, as I see it...is that the O.P. saw the very recently posted Youtube vid. on the FALSE FLAG attack on the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE and started this thread. THAT would make it a HOAX and would require an ATS ALERT!

Unless the O.P. can supply more information, or it can be corroberated, I suggest we remove or hold back any and all flags or stars. I am on the verge of sending an ATS Alert on this one.

I sailed with the enterprise and my ship did 34 knots top speed and the Enterprise would pass us like we were standing still.

I'm always skeptical about conspiracy theories. I like to believe we live in a world where things like false flags don't exist and people actually don't want wars to happen. In this case it kind of makes sense that they would use the USS Enterprise as an excuse for war but not only because of the iconic nature of the vessel. I can't imagine how much money the US would save by letting it sink in the Persian Gulf instead of having to decommission such a large vessel with 8 nuclear cores. Wikipedia says $857.3 USD million.
