Is humanity a house divided against itself?

Is humanity doomed to fight itself forever, or is real human brotherhood on some kind of worldwide or universal level possible?

Seems to me this is a pretty binary issue, and you have to come down on one side or the other. And the way you answer this question (even if you never explicitly answer it) will determine your entire worldview.

If you believe that man is doomed to always be wedded to tribe, family, nation, or other small group, then you will have no patience for arguments rooted in ideas of global oneness. New age/spiritual philosophies, communist/socialist, and "NWO"-style globalist rule by elite are all different from each other, yet they are rooted in a consciousness that puts humanity as a singularity at the center and seeks to erase borders. Opposed to this are the worldviews like nationalism, tribal/ethnic pride, mercantilism, and the like. These are also often in opposition to each other, and yet they share something: a basic conception that something smaller than humanity as a whole (be it family, nation, ethnicity, faith, or something else) comes first.

Personally I have always tended to the view that says humanity's differences are irreconcilable and that we are a species that inherently wars against itself. Because of this I have tended away from globalist positions (be they spiritual or material in character) and towards positions that strengthen the family, tribe, locality, or nation. But I'm an open-minded guy, and I would enjoy hearing what other people think about this issue. How about you? Which side of the fence do you come down on, and how does this impact your worldview and philosophy?

maybe if we didn't have people pushing propaganda against certain groups in order to start wars just to gain a profit, that would be a start

Much the same as how so many people like getting in the final word, so many factions like getting in the final blow. Nothing less is acceptable.

If loved ones were harmed by another faction, will they ever be able to forgive and move on? Perhaps actually reconcile? Far too many would be unwilling to, therefore we have a vicious, never-ending cycle of destruction and hatred.

Truly sad! Wish I could say otherwise.

Humanity doesn't seem to agree on absolutely anything, loves labels and makes sure they are always easy to read. I am afraid it is indeed a house divided against itself.

The potential for change is there, but it might take a near extinction event and a literal restart or a scenario with much elitism, genetic manipulation and inevitable depopulation or even some miraculous 3rd party intervention that would have to include generations of re-education, a shift in consciousness and many other intangible upgrades. I hope for the latter, of course.

I'm of the belief that humankind will fight itself forever. We just seem predisposed somehow to be that way. In my half awake/half asleep (literally) state right now I figure that if we were meant to figure each other out and live in peace, we would've done it by now. All this technology we have that makes everyone figuratively closer than ever before might be helping a little, but it's just not enough. I'm talking on a global scale here, not individual to individual.

I think what really gets in the way here are the power structures of a few that rule over so many. Their agendas, for the most part, don't have anything to do with the rest of us getting along. And being the acceptable creatures we are, we dutifully follow their lead thinking to ourselves " Well, they are our leaders after all". Typically giving no thought to the fact that we don't necessarily need them. Sometimes when I think about it, it amazes me what people are willing to accept. But then again I've got trust issues and generally don't accept sh*t from anybody.

I need more coffee. In the meantime though I think things are only going to get worse before they get better because humanity has been in this rut of blind acceptance for so long, I don't know if it would know what to do with itself if it actually did open it's eyes.

There are a few of us though that tend to see things for what they are.

No matter how shiney and nifty our toys, we have still just stepped out of the cave. We dream of peace, we speak of peace, but we give the finger to the guy who cuts us off in traffic and we cheer when our enemies are killed. Behavior history as Dr.Phil likes to say, is the best indicator of future behavior. So no, we will not change. Imho we are not capable of it. The old allegory of the scorpion and the frog ojar.com... applies, it is our nature.

I am a skilled banger of the head against brick walls. So I subscribe to the airy fairy Utopian world view, despite evidence to the contrary. I am an idiot.

Nah I do not think so. You have just climbed to far up the mountain and seen the stupidety of the smallminded people that are like ants from your perspective. They can be where you are but do not walk up the hill/mountin. Sometimes when you go with your head against the wall the wall breaks and not the head and you notice something more.

But if I am wrong that humanity wont get it then let us be idiots together. I rather be happy and an idiot than so called "sane" and "confused" and unhappy. Waking up from conditioning can be a pain sometimes but quite fun when you have lost much of it afterwards. Try to enjoy the ride. It's only temporary and then we can go home.

And you can always have some fun playing around with ego and duality towards the duality egodriven smallminded ones.

You might be crawling here. But I this place even crawling can be a great accomplishment. There is an extreme resistance in this world. When that resistance dissapear you will find out how strong and far you really have come. The moment of thruth is not gradual but instant so progress is hard to understand. Sometimes extreme need is the key to have the moment.
