God is almost omnipotent. He has many limits.

Omnipotent is defined in part as having power or authority without limits IOW, almighty.

Seems to me that God has a few limits.

He cannot reproduce true.
He cannot enjoy sex.
He cannot reproduce without bestiality or cross species breeding.
He can only reproduce half breed chimeras like Jesus.
He could not create a heaven without Satan.
He could not create Eden without evil in it.
He cannot control wayward demons or devils.
He cannot sin, although scripture says he does.
He cannot live without needs like adoration, honour, obedience, love.
He cannot accept a soul into heaven without us accepting Jesus and human sacrifice.
He could not forgive sin without having Jesus sacrificed.
Feel free to add to this list.

How then can Christians say that God omnipotent, all-powerful and without limits when he clearly has many?

Regards
DL

He cannot come show his face and prove his existence. He cannot create something without the sick urge to let it suffer and die.

You are attempting to quantify god. You are mistaken from the start. Everything that you name, and cannot name, is a reflection of god. Jesus was not god, he was merely a more 'accurate' reflection of god.

These are all self imposed limits..

You have to first understand and know both the reason for life and the purpose of life to understand WHY he would impose such limits on Himself.

They are simple answers although difficult to really understand.

First, the reason for life- to experience the self.

Second, the purpose of life- to prepare to become a part of the conglomerate again.

Once you understand these truths, the answer to your question about omnipotence becomes moot.

Sure he can and does.

God is EVERYTHING. He separated himself into the universe in its creation in order to experience the self. He also was incarnate in Jesus, so He experienced what it was like to not be God then.

You have already made all of your decisions (the part of you that lives outside of spacetime) Now the point is to figure out the why....

No that didn't come from the Matrix, the Matrix borrowed it from philosophy...

I understand what you're saying. I'm not an atheist, by the way, but nor am I a member of a church.

I do believe that that is the one thing that God cannot know, and that is why other perspectives were created. For all you said, it does still remain that God had the ability to experiment with all those things at his wish. He can't ever actually know what it's like to not be omnipotent. Rilke said it well:

Take your well developed strengths,
and stretch them between opposing poles
for in between is the space God LEARNS.

OoooOo.... i like lists

He cannot reproduce true.
~ IF we are part of God then he can...

He cannot enjoy sex.
~ same answer

He cannot reproduce without bestiality or cross species breeding.
~ Sounds like science to me... or a bad porno

He can only reproduce half breed chimeras like Jesus.
~ Huh? Jesus was a man not a God

He could not create a heaven without Satan.
~ Satan is Materialism, Not an entity in my humble opinion

He could not create Eden without evil in it.
~ Evil is man made

He cannot control wayward demons or devils.
~Christian Fairy tails

He cannot sin, although scripture says he does.
~Thats why one must be careful about what they believe came from God in scripture

He cannot live without needs like adoration, honour, obedience, love.
~Thats just wrong.... God doesn't have needs... God is beyond needing... Although he does have wants... and he wants his children to learn to love one another.

He cannot accept a soul into heaven without us accepting Jesus and human sacrifice
~ His death isn't important, his life is... Accepting Jesus does not mean "pick a religion"... It means Do as he asked of us... Two commandments my friend...

He could not forgive sin without having Jesus sacrificed.
~ Nope... not true...
Forgive and you will be forgiven.... show mercy and you will be shown mercy... But if you do not forgive he will not forgive you... And if you show no mercy.... he will show you none. That has never changed regardless of what you might read within the bible

Feel free to add to this list...

~ Nah... You're doing great!

Where did the ancients see it?
They did not. They just kept adding attributes to their mythical Gods till one had such a big dick everyone else left.

Logic says that an all-powerful God would find a better way to forgive mankind than to have his own son murdered. That would be more like omnipotent than a cowardly father who will not step up to pay the ransom that he himself set.

Why not quantify God. Christians tell us not to judge while at the same time they are judging him to be good.
If we agree fine. If not then we are not to judge the son murdering genocidal coward.

You see the limits and lie about God self-imposing them because you do not want to discard useless dogma.

Self-delusion to the max.

It is called a bible is it?
After all, God did have Jesus murdered. Sort of. Gods cannot die.

The bible has taken fantasy to the max.
Killing is easy. Making snakes and donkeys talk, now that is something.

It is something akin to the American dream. You have to be asleep to believe any of it.

We have no argument.

I did like your comment about Jesus and his life being more important than his death.

Good to see some who are not trying to profit from a belief that God would have his own son murdered for lowly mankind after he himself condemned us.

He cannot reproduce true. This doesn't make any more sense than saying He cannot reproduce false.
He cannot enjoy sex. Did He tell you this?
He cannot reproduce without bestiality or cross species breeding. What have you been ingesting??
He can only reproduce half breed chimeras like Jesus. Like to insult God obviously.
He could not create a heaven without Satan. Satan provided the manual labor?
He could not create Eden without evil in it. Was that His intention?
He cannot control wayward demons or devils. Is there such a thing as a non-wayward devil? Guess, you never rebuked one in Jesus name.
He cannot sin, although scripture says he does. I think you are trying to make wayward demon here.
He cannot live without needs like adoration, honour, obedience, love. Bet He did just fine before He created man.
He cannot accept a soul into heaven without us accepting Jesus and human sacrifice. Really, He told you this? Did you peek in His diary?
He could not forgive sin without having Jesus sacrificed. Nah, he forgave David.
Feel free to add to this list. God can do anything He wants unless you just want to be totally stupid and say things like: Can God make a taco that is too hot for Him to eat?
Can God build a mountain so big that He cannot throw it?

How then can Christians say that God omnipotent, all-powerful and without limits when he clearly has many?
You put the blinders on yourself, bud.
