Air Travel Delays 5/22/12 ?

Anyone know what's going on today, news reporting many delays today.
Mentioned, power outage in Jacksonville, radar problems?
Hours of delays on routes to NE from SW Florida.
Just looking to see if it's reported else where?

Orlando International is only showing delays that are destined for New Jersey.

Ought to be interesting 5 o'clock news tonite outta Charlotte NC since they were headed to Charlotte Douglas Airport. We'll see.

US Airways flight 787 landed safely in Bangor. "TSA is aware of reports of a passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior during flight........A person briefed on the incident said a passenger claimed she had a surgically implanted device....jet had 179 passengers and nine crew members on board.

The fact that the flight originated out of France was bothering me so I did more digging....seems the woman creating the rukus was from Cameroon.

according to the office of Rep. Peter King, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee......King's office said the woman is a French citizen born in Cameroon and was headed to the United States for a 10-day visit. She was traveling alone and had no checked baggage.

Then I was wondering ok, what's the link between Cameroon and Charlotte/banks. Did some more digging and found these tidbits.

The flight was originally scheduled to land at Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 2:35 p.m. It is now estimated to land at 4:27 p.m., according to US Airways.

It is now 5:45 pm EDT and the plane just landed according to the news. They haven't even got interviews yet, just a shot of the plane on the tarmac.

An hour and some change later than expected.

buses were brought to the scene to take passengers from the plane. The FBI is investigating the disturbance, according to CNN.

Going over the plane with a fine tooth comb maybe?!

Also of interest is this apparently cell phone interview b/c it was written before the plane landed in Charlotte. Wow, reporter must have good connections!

Wilmington resident aboard diverted plane recalls incident

Little did Wilmington resident Carol Garrason know that she was in for a quite an unusual plane ride ...."She was very upset and her story kept changing," said Garrason. "She was saying she was in pain and crying…just very frantic."........Once they landed, the plane's passengers realized that they were at a military base. Dozens of emergency vehicles greeted them when they landed.

Garrason says the woman had to be removed based on the suspicion of an electronic or explosive device.

Also local news is saying she had to be restrained b/c she was resistant? We'll see.

Wow, this thread might get much, much more interesting as this story develops!! Can't wait to see what they have to say about the woman. If she really did have something surgically implanted it would render the nude scanners, and the bomb dogs both useless, and they would have to rethink air security until they figure out the risk level. Scary stuff!!!
