A former supervisory FBI agent has been arrested and jailed on child pornography charges. Donald Sachtleben was taken into custody and charged Monday after a nationwide undercover investigation of illegal child porn images traded over the Internet. The 54-year-old resident of Carmel, Indiana, has pleaded not guilty and has a detention hearing in federal court Wednesday.

Something is not right with this picture. Someone so high up, he had to have known something or uncovered something or was about to come up with something and they quickly charge him with the ole child porn situation. There is more to this story than meets the eye.

He used the email ID: pedodave69, it is so obvious that a top FBI agent would not do this. He is being set up.

Why wouldn't something like this surprise me? Investigated 9/11 and OKC? Really? This guy was oblivious to what was going on between OKC and 9/11? He did nothing to prevent anything therefore he is not an expert of anything. Just another straw man to cause a diversion.

This might be the laziest attempt at setting someone up ever. It's like, if all us crazy conspiracy theorists got together and wrote a news story.

It's also a little frightening if he really was doing this under the worst, most transparent name ever, "pedodave69" and for 25 years, no one in the FBI noticed this?
Either way, REALLY FBI? We are expected to either believe this outrageous set-up or believe that you are all incompetent. You let a disgusting, proud pedophile work with you and never noticed?

Equally likely scenarios?

This is me stunned. Thanks to OP for this article.

A former FBI explosives expert who investigated high-profile bombings for the bureau over several decades has been arrested and charged with distributing child pornography over unsecured wireless networks using the screen name “pedodave69.”

Donald J. Sachtleben, 54, joined the FBI in 1983 and retired in 2008. Until the Indiana resident’s arrest he was working as an FBI contractor and a visiting assistant professor of forensic sciences at Oklahoma State University.

During his FBI career, Sachtleben served as team leader at the bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Kenya and the USS Cole in Yemen, and investigated the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the 1995 Oklahoma City federal building bombing. He also coordinated the search of Unabomber Ted Kaczynski’s cabin in Lincoln, Mont., even writing Kaczynski’s arrest affidavit, calling removing a live bomb from Kaczynski’s shack “the toughest experience I had.”

According to an affidavit from FBI agent Kerri Reifel, Sachtleben apparently used an unsecured wireless network belonging to a 73-year-old Illinois man to share 220 images of child pornography one night in September 2010 (the FBI obtained a search warrant for the elderly man’s home and found no child pornography on the computers at the residence).

FBI agents later arrested a man who had allegedly traded child pornography with Sachtleben via email. Sachtleben was caught because he allegedly accessed the email address [email protected] from his home. Investigators found 30 child pornography pictures and movies on a Sony laptop he kept in his red Chevy Suburban, which also contained various work files, according to the FBI.

The government believes Sachtleben’s training and background would make him a flight risk, noting that he had spent time in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. A detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

“Based upon his training and experience, he would be challenging and dangerous to locate if he was released pending trial and attempted to flee,” federal prosecutors wrote in a court filing.

U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana Joseph H. Hogsett said in a statement that the announcement “should make clear that no matter who you are, you will be brought to justice if you are found guilty of such criminal behavior.

So to clarify, he was using someone elses unsecured wireless to transfer 220 images on one night. He didn't use the Email address pedodave69 as an FBI agent, but at his home. 4 years after he retired.

Sounds legit to me, just because he's an ex FBI agent doesn't mean he's not capable of being a low life perverted scumbag.

Ahh but no worries, he used the email at work and no one knew, and it's obv an attempt to bring him down for knowing too much!!!!!!!

That is an interesting interpretation and I think this may be the case in more of these instances than we've been led to believe. That said...pedophilia occurs in some extremely high places. As sex goes you might consider it an extreme sport.
Outside of more typical familial situations -You'd almost need deep pockets, and/or extraordinary cover and/or situation (cabin boys, alter boys, pupils and pages, or an orphanage, etc.) to routinely get away with it.

I agree, something a bit fishy about an FBI agent who knows the extent of their surveillance capabilities, gets pinched for something like this...Does not add up

Yeah it doesnt sound right, but the FBI and CIA assume their asses are so well covered i sort of could believe an agent could be so sloppy.

The email name though i mean, thats just about as unsubtle as it gets, then again i dont know any pedophiles either so perhaps they are proud about it and stuff

The guy is a FBI former agent, not active. An email of his was found on the computer of another pedo that had been under investigation, so he was busted.

I don't see a conspiracy here, just a sick perv.

I suppose one way to look at it would be that people that high up shouldn't be so sloppy or pedo's to begin with.

The other way would be to say the higher they get, the more arrogant and sloppy they become. As far as not getting busted by system he should have known about.....AHEM....tell that to Robert Hanssen.
Yeah, FBI agents don't seem to have the best image for being intelligent about it. That sure doesn't mean the pervert wasn't a pervert. It just makes me wonder how many more might be at that level and how best someone can go about investigating all that and finding out.

When people are in positions of authority, they believe they can get away with anything, they do in fact believe that they are above the law and depending on the position held, its true.

A few years ago, a Colonel in the Navy's JAG was arrested for the same thing and sentenced to 10 years.

There we go again about what I am saying for years. The whole CP thing is a "catch them all" convinience. If you cant nail the guy on something concrete, you can always nail him with a few CP pix on his HD. And once you got the "PEDO" tag attached to your resume, all your other credentials are down the drain. So much for "Protecting the Children."

When it takes any fool 1 time to watch a controlled demolition on tv, and see just how strikingly similar a building hit with a plane near the top, crumbles directly straight down not to mention a 2nd building with no plane tumbles straight down...and he has to cover it up for years...the burden of proof lies with guys like this. He's too public to kill, so if he is discredited and arrested he will never talk to the public. Just saying... Even if he were to know for sure, this was an inside job, or the work of well-trained corporate mercenaries, he's a liability if he's out of the game.

Just my opinion, but 8 steel beams can't all melt from 1 plane, if 4 of them are in the building next door. Just saying...

Sounds like a setup to me. What kind of fool do you have to be, to be an ex agent and not know how to cover your tracks? Sounds more likely that the CIA sicked one of their hackers on him to ruin the guy. I would like to know why though.....

This entire article reads suspicious. So much detailed info given. Like his email name, was that necessary or even proper protocol to give out email names, at the start of something like this?

FBI agents later arrested a man who had allegedly traded child pornography with Sachtleben via email. How about this paragraph? Do we care that his lap top is a Sony? Or that he kept it in his RED CHEVY SUBURBAN, which also contained various Work Files, which I thought he was retired, so work files? You would think some of these details would be classified until the trial or hearing.

How about tying him to the OK and World Trade investigations? It seems like someone wanted this article to be dissected.

I wonder if the fbi agent in this article is some how connected? Might not have anything to do with it but it just seemed coincidental too me. Idk

Cnn article

Quote from the article: Ivens, who works on counterterrorism cases, was last seen by family Thursday night, a police statement said. His FBI-issued service revolver is also missing, Eimiller said.
