Newsflash.....the NHS would not make McDavid an NHL Captain......Ryan Nugent Hopkins is the one........Conner needs to pay his dues then sign a long term comittment before he is ready.....by then if he has earned it Nuge will GIVE IT TO HIM......but until the climate is right the NHS would under zero circumstances alter his development in any way .....he needs to get to know the Officials and the men in the League....he needs some room to grow.....obviously he was named Captain of team NA because he is being groomed....but this changes nothing for me.....I believe RNH is at the perfect stage of his career to carry the C and that he has earned it....IMHO Conner has not done enough to usurp the Nuge....Nugey utscored Conner as a Rookie and no one discusses it.....he is the most well rounded young player on the Oiler Team by a long shot...he is naturally mature beyond his years and is already a Veteran Player.....this is a no brainer....Ryan does everything a Captain needs to do...and now that the team is full of nasty and truculent players Nuges identity is much needed to create balance...Conner is still to much fire and brimstone pifle and vinegar to lead an NHL Team.

Besides Nugeys value increases exponentially when he becomes C for a couple of years while Conner learns the ropes....did you hear that fellas?....You took a hit on Hall in the Fans eyes...Moma2 knows the real story on how lucky you were to get what you got and why but this is not the place to divulge industry insider info.....and the online and MSM rumors are not on target ....Nuge is not Hall and you WILL get above premium value if you handle him properly...and you will recoup what you lost on Hall....considering the overall value package of your top picks and Nails need to go supernova you are looking horrible in terms of asset/value management...you NEED TO OPTIMISE what you have left.Properly support Nuge and Nail and offset the poor management of the past.....there is ample opportunity to right this ship considering how young Nugey and Nail really are.

By the way....everyone better look out for Slepyshev...he is built like a tank ..he has a true nose for the net...and he can snipe with the best of them....If he develops Chemistry with McDavid on the PP we might see a Kurri-like one-timer again because Slepyshev has a CANNON of a one-timer....and he gets it off consistantly....he can be a closer in the NHL IMHO.

Look for him at the 15-20 game mark.Teams will soon be demanding Pouliot in trades because of his elite forechecking and consistant scoring and how the NHL is evolving....there might be room.....one never knows.

RK...ask Leon to look for he wraparound....he is consisantly getting excellent medium speed passes behind the net.....ask him to look to wrap it...his stick is a paddle and he doesnt like it.....but use the directed rebound ok Ralph....make it so....on say 20% of Leons deep o-zone possesions where he has some momentum coming around behind he net....and tell Hossa to ...back up 2-3 feet even if no one is around to force the Goalie to re-set his focus .... before he releases he puck...to shoot the FADEAWAY...it is his best weapon...remind him.
