Sorry, but that chart is a bunch of BS.
I don't need a chart to let me know what is going on in the employment world. All I have to do is look around my town and state and see the thousands out of work, shops closed and businesses failing.
Just because the government says it's all better now don't make it so.
When the Democrats regained tenuous control of the 110th Congress in 2007, filibusters by the new Republican minority skyrocketed. Following the landslide victory of Barack Obama and progressive Democrats in 2008, there was a clear mandate for change in reform in America, yet the 111th should set a new record for filibusters as part of a clear pattern of obstruction from those who do not want change or reform.
Open the "Help Wanted" section for any newspaper in the country. There is your barometer.
it is just getting sad now. In April the number of people not in the labor force rose by a whopping 522,000 from 87,897,000 to 88,419,000.

c'mon...can't you see that everybody here thinks Obama hasn't done anything right...we need to go back to the good old days when the republicans had control. i just can't wait for more taxes cut for the wealthy, closing down social security, cutting back on grandmas medicare, abortions are made illegal, causing doctors and woman to go to jail, or forcing them to birth everything, even if it kills the mother, turning the post office over to private business where stamps will immediately go up to 75 cents for a letter, closing down EPA, disbanding unions, repeal what little healthcare got passed..GOP motto, "if you're not rich, screw you, your on your own"edit on 5-5-2012 by jimmyx because: (no reason given)
The U6 unemployment rate counts not only people without work seeking full-time employment (the more familiar U-3 rate), but also counts "marginally attached workers and those working part-time for economic reasons." Note that some of these part-time workers counted as employed by U-3 could be working as little as an hour a week. And the "marginally attached workers" include those who have gotten discouraged and stopped looking, but still want to work. The age considered for this calculation is 16 years and over
The U.S Department of Labor has the unemplyment rate currently at 7.2%, which it states is 11.1million people out of work. So divide 11.1/.072=154 million in the workfore. www.bls.gov... As of April 2009, the specific number was 154,731,000 in the civilian workforce. There are also approximately 1,500,000 in the military workforce. FYI, the current population of the US is 306,531,009, meaning that more than half of the US is working. Out of the whole population, 11.1 million are out of work, 43 million are elderly (65+), 48 million are stay-at-home moms/dads, and 73 million are children under 18

Saying that Obama ruined the economy is becoming a harder and harder sell each day.

The economic downturn was a result of Bush and GOP policies.
The only reason we have any shred of economic recovery are due to Obama and his policies. In 2009 with the economy in ruins the GOP wanted to play turtle and freeze the flow of money, as done in Europe. If we had done that we would still be in the middle of the worst part of the collapse. There's still a long way to go, no one is arguing with that, but the last decade has shown us which policies work, and which ones don't.
